Simone Giannelli mvp of the match
ph. Trabalza
Verona, 9th November 2016
For the “derby of Adige” number 28 Angelo Lorenzetti chooses the following starting six for Diatec Trentino: Giannelli as setter, Nelli as opposite, Lanza and Urnaut in area 4, Solé and Daniele Mazzone as middle blockers, Colaci as libero. Andrea Giani, coach of Calzedonia, replies with Baranowicz as setter, Zingel and Anzani as middle blockers, Giovi as libero and the former players Djuric and Ferreira (for their first match against Trentino Volley after leaving Trento) together with Lecat (Kovacevic at rest) as hitters. The beginning of the match is very discontinuous; Trento has a better start (3-1 and then 11-9) thanks to Urnaut and Solé, but then the home team is able to take the lead (12-14) with a good Djuric. The time out of Lorenzetti wakes Lanza and his team-mates up, who manage to get the lead thanks to two blocks of Mazzone and an ace of Solé (19-15). This is the right moment, because Diatec Trentino controls the situation and increases its advantage till 25-19 scored by Nelli’s ace.
The good moment of the visiting team continues also in the second set, with Giannelli (block) and Urnaut (block against Djuric and counterattack) who bring Trento to 7-3. Giani calls a timeout but he doesn’t see the desired reaction from his players; on the contrary, Trento accelerates (13-8 and 15-9) with Lanza, who is definitely into the match. In the final part of the set a great performance of the middle blocker from Turin gets the victory of the second set for Trento (25-18).
The third set begins with a balanced performance till 9-9, then Diatec Trentino starts to accelerate in the break and takes off with Urnaut (14-11) and with an inspired Giannelli. Verona tries to close the gap (19-18), but Trento accelerates again with Urnaut (22-19); the Yellow-blues win 25-19 thanks to Giannelli, the key player of the 9 metres line.
