Trento, 14th November 2016

Acid test successfully passed for Diatec Trentino. The big match of last week of  regular season SuperLeague UnipolSai 2016/17, played Sunday night at PalaTrento against Lube Civitanova allowed the yellow-blue team to win the ninth match in a row in the championship, to remain the only unbeaten team, but more than anything else to reach the first place of the league.
One year and thirteen days have passed since last time that Trentino Volley was alone at the top of the Italian national championship; it was exactly the 1st of November 2015, immediately after the second week. During his eight seasons playing for Trento, the libero Massimo Colaci has often looked down at everyone as league leader but every time it is a great satisfaction. “We are very happy for the final result and also for the performance – said the strong Apulian player in an interview with Radio Dolomiti - ; when it comes to struggle we never back out and this is certainly our best virtue. We knew we would suffer playing against a team like Lube and it was great playing this long and balanced match, without interruptions. Sokolov's injury during the third set could have helped us to win, but it should be remembered that Casadei, who replaced him, is an opposite hitter used to play important maches. We dug many balls, taking away certainties to our opponents, but the good results in this fundamental are always linked to the others. Sunday night the serve helped us, avoiding that Christenson set fast offence and that allowed us to place better the back court. At the same time we must also consider the huge number of balls we saved that is one of our quality and it shows how strong is our determination”.
The victories against Perugia, Verona and Civitanova were important but they do not change anything regarding how we will play in the championship – added Colaci - . We knew we are not the strongest team, we are happy to be at the first place, but honestly we have to work hard in order to always keep an high level like the top teams and maybe try to reamin at the top of the championship. It is the goal we set since the beginning of the season and we will continue to try to reach it with great perseverance and desire to win”.
This week will see Diatec Trentino playing twice in Emilia Romagna: Thursday night in Piacenza (rescheduled match of the fifth week of SuperLeague), Sunday in Modena (big match of the third last week of regular season). The matches will be prepared starting from Tuesday morning, after Monday off, with the resumption of the trainings at PalaTrento.
