Trento, September the 20th 2017
Diatec Trentino hit home right away during the first match of the preseason. Even without four of its players, the team led by Angelo Lorenzetti defeated the Japanese players of JT Thunders avoiding any true risk during the match that entertained the five hundreds fans that came in Palatrento to follow the first steps of the new yellow-blue shortlist.
Beyond the result, that doesn't have a great importance at this stage, the most significant thing is that our team has been very strong-willed and determined, keeping the percentage high even during the side out phase and during the attack, with four of the six regular players in double digits. The best things happened in the middle of the net, with Eder (89% in attack, 1 block and 1 ace) and Zingel (64% in the first half, 2 blocks and one ace), who has been playing well since the first set, the only one that was fought hard till the end. And then great receptions have been made by the back row players Pandis-Chiappa and by the couple Kovacevic-Cavuto playing in the area 4.
Here the chronicle of the match. For his debut in front of the public, Angelo Lorenzetti still couldn't count on the players of the National team Giannelli, Hoag, Lanza, Vettori and Kozamernik (diverse work), so he presented Diatec Trentino with Partenio as a setter, Teppan playing in the opposite role, Cavuto and Kovacevic as spikers, Zingel and Eder as middle blockers and De Panidis as libero.
The JT Thunders answered with Fukatsu as a setter, Edgar as opposite player, Yako and Machino in the area 4, Nakajima ans Yakamoto as middle blockers, Inoue as libero. During the first minutes of the match, Diatec Trentino made a show of force with Zingel performing a block (5-2) and then with the other middle blocker Eder (10-6). The Japanese team kept an high score during the side out phase and tried to get closer with Yako and Yamamoto (12-10 and then 14-13). The tie point (16-16) has been made by Muchino, blocking Teppan's attack; after that Edgar and the Japanese middle blocker made their team go ahead (17-19). Diatec Trentino got afraid of losing the match so reacted with two players making two more points: Zingel (ace) and Cavuto (21-20); the middle blocker from Abruzzo also made the first set ball (24-22), while Eder made the next one (25-23). During the second set the yellow-blues took the lead immediately (6-4, 10-6), exploiting a good moment during the break phase of the area 4 couple Cavuto-Kovacevic. Edgar's serving (2 non-consecutive aces) reduced the gap (12-12), but Trento immediately reacted thanks to Eder (14-12). During the final phase Teppan made a show of force with a block (21-18), followed by Kovacevic that made the same after the Japanese's time-out (23-19). The 2-0 came as a result of a Japanese's mistake at serving (25-20).
JT Thunders reacted very positively at the beginning of the third set (0-5), but Diatec Trentino got back on track right away (4-6) with the block of Partenio, and then reached the tie (13-13) thanks to the serve of Cavuto. The middle phase of the match was real fun, but the yellow-blues continued to show something more than the guest team and took the reins of the game with Teppan and Eder (20-17). The Japanese team couldn't react anymore (23-19) an Cavuto became the protagonist of the latest part of the match (25-21).
