The 23th turn (10th of the second half of the season) of regular season of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17 will be played entirely on Sunday, February 12th. Diatec Trentino will confront the ranking first Cucina Lube at the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova Marche. The match starts at 6 p.m. and will be transmitted live on RAI sport 1 and Radio Dolomiti.
Here Diatec Trentino The second to last away match of the regular season is the hardest one for the yellow-blue team, which will try to win in the unbeatable Eurosole Forum. The three points are very important, not only in order to reduce the distances with Civitanova (which has 6 points more), but also to keep being the ranking second alone (Perugia is in the third place and will play at home against Monza).
“The ranking and the recent victory in Coppa Italia speak loud, Civitanova is the best team of the championship – stated the coach Angelo Lorenzetti - . We know Civitanova is a big rival; in order to beat it we need to play a great performance. There will be some difficult moments but we’ll do our own best to gain three points, because we can do it if we have the right spirit. I wish this could be a match with a high level of volleyball, harsh-fought, like the one played two weeks ago at the Unipol Arena in Bologna, but with a different final result and favorable for our team”.
The team has trained this morning at PalaTrento before moving to Civitanova, where it has arrived this evening with all the players. Also in this case, the technical staff will have only problems with the big numbers in choosing the starting six. Diatec Trentino will have a pre-match session tomorrow in the morning at the Eurosole Forum. This will be the 36th official match of the season (balance: 28 victories and 7 defeats), the 695th ever in the history of Trentino volley, the 379th away match (in 237 cases it won).
Rivals Cucine Lube Civitanova can’t look forward to play this match, in fact the tickets were all sold days ago. In order to confirm the status of “unbeatable” at home, Gianlorenzo Blengini’s team could count on the spectators’ support; the audience saw only victory: 14 victories in 14 official matches at the Eurosole Forum. Another success will confer the team the victory of the championship three matches earlier. Covitanova lost only twice: in Trento in four sets and in Modena at the tiebreak. The leading role and the recent victory of the Coppa Italia are the evidence of the great season of Juantorena (ex Trentino, best striker of the season) and Sokolov (ex Trentino, best blocker and fifth bomber), but also of the other players, that changed the face of the team in many times. In zone 4, the coach has alternatives and can chose among Cebulj, Kaliberda or Kovar, in diagonal with Osmany; also in the center and in the role of libero there are important options, but dependent on the number of foreign players that can be in the starting six.
Precedents Sunday’s one is the 50th official match between the two teams, the forth seasonal match and the 12th one in the last twelve matches; the overall balance is favorable for Trentino volley (30-22 victories). However, Lube won two of the last three matches (final for the third place of SuperCoppa Italiana on September 25th and the recent final of Coppa Italia in Bologna on January 29th). Since when it moved to the Eurosole of Civitanova, the team has always won in the direct match, played only twice: on March 1st 2015 (3-2) and March 6th 2016 (3-0). The yellow-blue team won 9 away matches at the Fontescodella in Macerata; the most recent was on February 10th 2013 (3-0, Stokr mvp). In the match in the first half of the season, played at PalaTrento on November 13th 2016, Diatec Trentino won in four sets (25-19, 23-35, 25-21, 25-20), thanks to a great performance of Van de Voorde (best scorer with 13 points and the 91%) and Giannelli (mvp).
Referees The match will be directed by Simone Santi (Città di Castello, Perugia – in the first league since 1994 and Fivb international referee since 2011) and Ilaria Vagni (from Perugia – referee since 2003 and international one since 2014). This will be the third match they direct together in the SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17, the 15th personal one for Santi and the 13th one for Vagni. Together they directed Trento-Milano 3-0 on November 6th 2016. Santi directed also Modena-Trento 3-1 on September 24th (semifinal of Supercoppa) and Latina-Trento 0-3 on December 29th 2016, whereas Vagni directed Molfetta-Trento 2-3 on December 4th 2016.
TV, radio and Internet The match will be a global eventand will be transmitted live on the tv, radio and the Internet. It will be broadcasted on RAI sport 1, channel on the digital terrestrial and on Sky (227), with the comments of Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta; the match will be transmitted in streaming also on the Internet on www.raisport.rai.it/dl/raisport/multimedia/diretta.html and cold be watched in the other continents (more then 30 countries) thanks to the direct on Bandsports, Sportsklub, Sportsklub Poland, Sky Mexico, Sportsmax Caraibi, Saran, Telesport, Ote, Img and Perform.
