Trento, February 3rd 2018
After the break due to the 2018 Del Monte® Coppa Italia Final Four, the 2017/2018 UnipolSai SuperLega restarted with the 20th regular season early match on Friday night, Vibo Valentia-Milano (0-3). Diatec Trentino will face Sir Safety Conad Perugia in front of the home crowd in PalaTrento; the big match is scheduled on Sunday at 6pm: live on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel at www.elevensports.it/superlega.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO Yellow-blues move the focus back to regular season after a successful trip to Turkey; the goal is to consolidate the fourth place in the rank obtained winning against Verona and more recently in Bari against Castellana Grotte. It is not an easy job as the top team of the league, Perugia, will come to PalaTrento while the direct opponent Verona will take the court against Ravenna. “We shouldn’t be distracted by the math and the logics of the league table - explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti - ; the fourth place is an important goal but so is to manage to play efficaciously and with continuity. The rest will follow, there are plenty of matches still ahead. We think game by game and in the next one against Perugia, just like last week in Coppa Italia, we’ll have to be more confident. Changing doesn’t imply we will play with the three spikers; in Izmir we experimented a new layout to understand if we can rely on alternative solutions, but with Perugia we have to add something more to our performance".
The choice of the starting six will be revealed only few hours before the match, after the last training sessions with the full roster available. In Turkey libero Daniele De Pandis showed great signs of recovery after the knee surgery. It will be 743rd official match for Trentino Volley (516wins, 226lost) and the 450th regular season match, with 312 victories. In the second leg so far captain Lanza led the team to grab 14 of the 18 points available, with six wins and one defeat.
OPPONENT Nine months after the last time (Scudetto semifinal game 5) Sir Safety Conad Perugia returns to PalaTrento as leader of the rank, four points ahead of Lube in 2nd and two titles already won. SuperCoppa in October and Coppa Italia last week, Block Devils team is proving its competitiveness and shows a clean sheet in the second leg. Bernardi’s players played the Champions League match on Wednesday as well and easily won against Roeselare even when alternating the first line players. In PalaTrento it is likely they will line up their best players who allowed Perugia to arrive to Trento with the best ace per set average (2,1) and best block per set average (2,6); more specifically Atanasijevic (third aceman and fourth best scorer of the league), Russell (fourth best spiker) and Anzani (best middle blocker).
FIRST MATCH AS A FORMER PLAYER AT PALATRENTO FOR COLACI After having played in the previous seven season with Trentino Volley’s kit on, totalizing 345 played matches and massively contributing to the victory of eleven trophies, the libero Massimo Colaci will play as a former player at PalaTrento (where he became the most present player in history of Trentino Volley together with Birarelli) for the first time on Sunday, with Perugia’s kit on.
THE BACKGROUND On Sunday the twenty-fourth match between the two teams will be played at PalaTrento, the tenth in the last thirteen months if we consider that Diatec Trentino and Sir Safety Conad played versus each other in the semi-finals of all the recent Italian tournaments: Play Offs Scudetto and Supercoppa Italiana 2017, Coppa Italia 2018. The balance is in favor of the yellow-blue colors for 14-9, but the team from Umbria won the last three direct matches and let the opponents only one set (the third one in Civitanova during the match of the semi-finals of Supercoppa on October 7th 2017). The last victory of Trentino Volley is dated back to a match played at PalaTrento: 3-0 in match 5 of Scudetto semi-finals played on April 22nd 2017. In the stadium of via Fersina Perugia has also won only one of the eleven previous matches (1-3 on March 16th 2014).
REFEREES Omero Satanassi (from Ravenna, in Serie A since 1996 and international referee from 2000) and Mauro Goitre (from Torino – referee from 2008 and international from 2016) will whistle the match. The two referees are at their first match together in SuperLega Unipolsai 2017/18, the twelfth for Satanassi (at his third seasonal match with Trento, after the 3-0 versus Monza on October 18th and the 3-0 versus Padova on January 4th), the thirteenth for Goitre (his last two previous matches with Diatec Trentino are dated back to November 1st in Civitanova and to December 30th in Busto Arsizio).
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET The match will be told live by Radio Dolomiti, network partner of Trentino Volley, with a live coverage. The links with PalaTrento will be performed inside of “Campioni di Sport”, the sport container of the radio of via delle Missioni Africane.
The frequencies to listen to the regional network are available at the home page www.trentinovolley.it, whereas on the site www.radiodolomiti.com will be also possible to listen to the live commentary.
A live video streaming will be offered as well on the web space “Lega Volley Channel” by clicking at www.elevensports.it/superlega; service on payment.
The deferred match will be broadcast on tv on Monday February 5th at 9.50 p.m. on RTTR, tv partner of the Club of via Trener, right after the magazine “RTTR Volley”.
Lastly, on the Internet, point-to-point updates will be performed by the official site of Lega Pallavolo Serie A (www.legavolley.it) and by www.trentinovolley.it itself and they will be always active on the yellow-blue Social Networks (www.trentinovolley.it/facebook and www.trentinovolley.it/twitter).
TICKETS, MERCHANDISING AND “POLICURA DAY” On Sunday the cashiers of PalaTrento will be open starting from 5 p.m. and will sell the last tens of already available tickets (already sold out the tickets on the Internet). At the same the entrances of the stadium will be open as well.
Inside, right behind the north bleacher, the supporters will find the yellow-blue merchandising point at their disposal; a large kind of Trentino Volley items will be available.
At PalaTrento in this occasion it will be time for “POLICURA DAY”; to offer further visibility to the long-time partnership, Trentino Volley and POLICURA will organize a series of initiatives which will see the yellow-blue kit sponsor particularly active towards the public. Inside of the stadium will be prepared a stand which will offer information and gadgets about POLICURA, whereas its logo will strongly characterize the advertising LEDs during the match. POLICURA will also give the mvp prize to the player chosen by a jury of journalists at the end of the match and will also prepare a small but significative surprise to the thirteen lucky spectators who will manage to collect what will be thrown at them at the start of the match from Trentino Volley’s players.
