Georgi Bratoev with Nazional Team Jersey: he will be the 10th player of Trentino Volley history
Trento, July 18th, 2015
It will be the twenty-seven national Bulgarian Georgi Bratoev to complete, along with Simone Giannelli, the pair of setters of the 2015/16 Trentino Volley’ shortlist. The original director of Sofia and the Club Champion of Italy have in fact reached an agreement on an annual basis; but Bratoev lastname is not new for Trentino Volley; before Georgi, the T-shirt of Trento was in fact already worn by his twin brother Valentine, whom in 2010/11 (distinguished from the historic treble Championship - Champion League and Club World Cup) collected 15 presences and 53 points in the role as a spiker. The Bratoev just hired is instead a setter of great experience, accumulated not only playing over one hundred matches with the national team of his country, but also playing for three seasons in the Russian league.
With the Bulgaria he has achieved some prestigious awards like the bronze medal at the European Championships in 2009 and the recent silver at the European Games in Baku in 2015, but above all the individual awards as best setter of 2012 World League and of the Olympics in London, closed at fourth place. He just ended two seasons lived between Ukraine (with Lokomotiv Kharkiv), Russia (Orenburg) and Bulgaria and he will further thickening the thick ranks of Bulgarians players, whom Trentino Volley could boast among its ranks: Hristo Zvetanov (Central - season 2003/04) was the first and the only one that didn’t win titles because then everyone else got Trento with at least a significant victory for their career: in order of appearance Mlyakov, Nikolov, Kaziyski, Stoyanov, Stefanov, Sokolov, Valentin Bratoev and Uchikov.
”I have known Georgi for a long time, I also coached him in the national team and I know what kind of contribution he can offer us” - said the coach of Trentino Volley Radostin Stoytchev -. “He is a very valid player from all points of view and really passionate about his profession; Trento will give him the most important chance to his career because before now had never the possibility to play in a team of high level. I consider him a great buy for many reasons, among which I definitely put his technical features: he works well on sets and block in defense. In the role of setter, the team will have two great alternatives".
