Diatec Trentino starts the semi-final series of Championship play-offs UnipolSai 2017 in the right way. During match 1 against Perugia the yellow-blue team has benefited from home advantage, defeating its opponents by 3-1 after an hard-fought match, that has transmitted strong emotions until the end. Lanza and his team-mates were able to win the first game, proving the impregnability of PalaTrento (19th consecutive victory) and showing they have a strong personality. Yellow-blue players were able to win this challenge taking advantage of moments of great volley in decisive parts of the last three sets. After a first set in favour of Perugia and its service, the match becomes extremely uncertain; home team was encourage by its amazing audience (almost 4.000 spectators) in an increasingly convincing performance, that was made up of great defences but also of the risks that Lorenzetti had said he would have taken. We could see two glaring examples as he fielded Antonov in the most important moment of the third set and Nelli in that of the fourth. Fundamental for the yellow-blue victory have been Lanza’s recovery (who has not been playing very well at the beginning and then improved until becoming best scorer of Diatec Trentino), the regularity of Urnaut (mvp of the match with outstanding percentages in all fundamentals) and the constant contribution of Van de Voorde, who played a flawless match (80% of fast attack, three aces, two blocks). Perugia was supported more and more by Zaytsev, the best among Diatec Trentino’s opponents, and Podrascanin but during the match was evident the excessive discontinuity of Atanasijevic.
