Third season with Trentino Volley senior team for Simone Giannelli

The furthest away match of the whole regular season of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17 had in store no particular satisfaction for Diatec Trentino. The second half of the season started with an incredible defeat at the tie-breaker in Vibo Valentia, which however allowed the Yellow-Blues to get one point but also to give Modena the second place of the ranking list.
“We are obviously sorry about the result of a match that had two diametrically opposed sides for us – explained Simone Giannelli the day after the defeat in Calabria -. We were good in every fundamental in the first half of the match, but without being able to give continuity to our play. The fact that we lost the third set has completely changed the match compared to the first two sets; it’s our fault, but it’s also because of Tonno Callipo, which then gained confidence in its own means and was able to cause difficulties to us with defence, service and a regular side-out”.
“Our last four matches, all finished at the tie-breaker, show that this SuperLega is a very tough and balanced championship; you can’t allow yourself to let down your guard against any opponent and we could experience it in the last weeks – added the setter from Bolzano -. We also have to say that in the most recent matches we haven’t been able to play with the continuity shown in the first part of the season. There are many aspects of our play that we have to improve, we know it and we’re ready to do it starting from Tuesday, when we train in view of the next match. On Friday evening against Sora we’ll try to get a success, but it’s wrong to speak of a redemption: it would unconsciously imply to think about the match at PalaValentia. What we want is to look at the next commitment and offer a good performance to get the victory”.
Diatec Trentino, which returned to Trento at lunchtime, will resume training on Tuesday morning for the first of three days of preparation in view of the home match against Biosì Indexa Sora on December 16th (at 8.30 pm).
