Trento, 5th October 2016
Before leaving Trento for the first SuperLega UnipolSai away match against Sora, on Sunday, Diatec Trentino will take the court tomorrow night, Thursday 5th October, during a friendly match in Bolzano.
Starting from 8pm fans will have free access to PalaResia in Bolzano, where Angelo Lorenzetti’s team will face Germany’s vice-champion VfB Friedrichshafen; we are talking about one of the most well-known Bundesliga team with a long european experience, among which the 2007 Champions League win. Bolzano’s municipality strongly supported the event, along with Società Sport Team Südtirol, and will be the perfect occasion to celebrate Simone Giannelli and the silver medal he won during the Olympic Games in Rio 2016; the young setter was born and raised in Bolzano where he started playing volleyball.
Despite being a friendly match, the event will be an interesting “litmus test”: there are only two weeks left before the debut in the 2016 Club World Championship in Betim and tomorrow Diatec Trentino will check its status against an international opponent with many well-known players. Coach Vital Heynen (ex Tours, Maaseik and Germany coach, about to become the new Belgium coach) can count on setter Tischer, spikers Mustedanovic and Rousseaux (last year in Molfetta and Monza) and libero Steuerwald.
“Playing against the german team is a great chance to improve and to check our technical and tactical situation; during this time of the year a match is more useful than a training session, because it allows us to gather more information and data on what we have to focus on in order to get better - said coach Angelo Lorenzetti - and Friedrichshafen has always been a tough opponent, it will be an important match under many aspects”.
The friendly match will see Trentino Volley return to Bolzano 5 years after 2011 Champions League Final and will be reported live on www.trentinovolley.it: live news will update supporters on the match, with a few seconds lag. Live updates will also be posted on Facebook (@trentinovolleysrl) and Twitter (@trentinovolley).
