Trentino Volley will partecipate to 2017 CEV Cup thanks to its third place achieved in the regular season of Super League UnipolSai 2015/16

On Thursday, June 30th in Bulgaria will be celebrated the first official act of the 2017 CEV Cup, the second European competition in importance, which for Trentino Volley has enrolled in recent weeks thanks to its third place achieved in the regular season of Super League UnipolSai 2015/16.
At 10.00 am Italian time, the Grand Hotel Varna of the namesake city will host the draw for the finals of the Cup thirty-board CEV which, unlike the Champions League, does not provide group stage but only double shifts (first leg and second leg) knockout. Thanks to the excellent position of Italy in the European ranking (who has contributed in an important way thanks to the podium obtained in the same CEV Cup 2015, and the latest edition of the CEV Champions League), Trentino Volley should be among the top seeds at least initially, and then enjoy an easier path; only the formalization of pairs will determine if indeed it will.
Twenty-nine teams already registered will be joined by another sixteen, eliminated during the second and third preliminary phase of the 2017 CEV Champions League which will be played during the first three weeks of November. Among the most prominent names already sure to attend, stand out those of the Russians of Surgut, the French of Tours (former European opponent of Trento last season), the other Italian Piacenza (fished in CEV Cup after joining the Challenge Cup), the Turkish Fenerbahce and the Greek Olympiacos. As already mentioned, others could be added after the two preliminary rounds of the Champions League. Currently the nations involved are thus eighteen; Italy, Belgium, France, Romania, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia, Finland and Ukraine are the only countries sure to boast at least two teams at the start of the final trophy last season to the member of Berlin.
The 2017 CEV Cup will go on scene between December 13th, 2016 (date of the first leg of the final thirty-seconds) and April 15th, 2017 (date of return of the final race). To overcome every single turn must get the most points over the two legs; points are awarded as in the league: 3 for a victory of 3-0 or 3-1, 2 for the success at tie-break, 1 for a defeat at the tie-break (golden set to 15 in case of equality of points).
For the Company of via Trener the participation in the 2017 CEV Cup will be the eleventh absolute experience of its history in European competition, the third in this tournament who had previously played twice: in 2004/05 season (eliminated at the knockout stage from Ankara) and in 2014/15 season (second position behind Dynamo Moscow - victorious in the golden set). The total budget of Trentino Volley in 94 races relate to CEV events is 77 victories and 17 defeats.
