The first season as coach of Trentino Volley has been “…exciting and very positive”. This afternoon in the Trophy room during a press conference Coach Angelo Lorenzetti has given an overall judgement of the regular season that has just ended and he has spoken loud and clear. This 56 matches as coach of Diatec Trentino confirmed the choice he made at the beginning of summer 2016.
“I’ve really felt myself at ease in Trento and I give the highest mark to the whole environment I’ve found here – explained the coach of Diatec Trentino, that will be 53 on Thursday -. Here all elements, the society, the players and the supporters have a positive and measured attitude, that let us start again without any pressure even after two bad defeats as in the case of Tours and Perugia in Match 4 of semi-final. The enthusiasm they showed us after the end of each match was something amazing. I had fun as I trained with this group; I proposed my own method to a team that already knew me and succeeding in convincing them to adopt it really thrilled me”.
“The beginning of this season with the guys was a really nice moment – continued Lorenzetti-; from the retreat in Borgo Valsugana I’ve received considerable attention, willingness to get to know each other and interest that then have resulted in constancy in training and in pursuing objectives in the following months. Qualifying for the finals of several competitions was both important and satisfying; in volleyball if you take part in press conferences like this one only in May, it means you have been able to fight for something important and that’s what we have done. The saddest moment? Without any doubt the defeat in Tours, because on that occasion we have missed an important trophy that we really wanted to win; the defeat hurt us and even now that wound is still open. And besides it, a couple of away matches in which we haven’t been able to show our talent. The difficulties we faced in away matches in this period are evident but we can analyze them from two different points of view: we should understand if in away games our level of game decreases or, on the contrary, it increases as we play at PalaTrento. We’ll try to understand this because it will be fundamental during trainings in the years to come. The period after the end of the regular season is the right one to reflect and understand for the next season which has to be the team and staff to start with; there will necessarily be some changes. I have many ideas, but there’s still time to implement them. For what concerns the arrival of new players, I will give my personal opinion and I will share it with the President and the General Manager Da Re taking into account the budget we must not overrun”.
