After four impressive confirmations (Stoytchev, Colaci, Solé and Djuric), the 2015 summer market session of Trentino Volley has recorded the first important operation. In these last hours in fact, the Company of Via Trener has concluded the negotiations to let wear the yellow-blue t-shirt to the Belgian middle blocker Simon Van de Voorde. The best blocker of Super League UnipolSai 2014/15 (93 points in 26 games) has signed a contract valid until June 30th 2017 and comes to Trento at the end of the first Italian exciting season of his career, which saw him as a great protagonist with Latina t-shirt, which was semifinalist of the playoffs. This is a stroke of very high level for the renewed formation of Radostin Stoytchev, who can rely on a very physical player but also backed by international experience despite his young age (in December will turn 26 years).
Between 2009 and 2014 Van De Voorde has always played in the European Cups, first with the T-shirt of Noliko Maaseik, the Belgium team with which he won everything and even challenged the Trentino Volley in the 2012 edition of the CEV Champions League, then with the T-shirt of the Polish team Jastrzebski Wegiel semifinalist of Champions in 2014 and led from the bench by Lorenzo Bernardi. The block is not the only impressive skill of his technical knowledge; the first Italian league Simon has pointed out in attack, registering percentages of the highest level (57%), and in service, scoring 17 aces.
He will wear the T-shirt number 14 and will be the first Belgian in the history of Trentino Volley composing with Sebastian Solé a diagonal of 3 place of great quality. During the summer, will work with the national team, with which he might play the World League (Belgium is inserted in the Intercontinental Round Pool E) and the European Championships.
"Being able to count on the best blocker of last season is definitely an added value” - said President of Trentino Volley Diego Mosna -. “With his arrival we have a new great contribution in this skill which is becoming more and more important in the modern volleyball; then I greet with pleasure the arrival of Simon Van de Voorde in our Club; we open the summer market with a graft of quality."
"Van de Voorde is a player who really impressed me in his first season in Italy with the quality expressed at the blocks”- admitted the coach of Trentino Volley Radostin Stoytchev -. “I'm glad he chose to play with us because he definitely will give us a big hand in this crucial but also in the creation of a strong and united group. We are not talking only about a player who has reached full volleyball maturity, but also a guy who knows how to work hard and is willing to sacrifice for the good of the team. The references we have about him are all very positive."
