The law of PalaTrento is stronger than the so far perfect record of Lube. Four thousands cheering fans supported Diatec Trentino tonight, as the team won against Lube Civitanova; the opponents were holding a clear record without defeats as they entered PalaTrento. Angelo Lorenzetti and the team, in front of the home crowd (PalaTrento was sold-out for the second time this season), managed to win the most important match of the 10th round of regular season, with a 3-1 score. After this epic match, Lanza and his teammates now took the lead of the ranking, overtaking Lube itself (now one point behind) and Modena (who lost today at Molfetta), despite having one match still to play, against Piacenza on Thursday. Tonight’s match offered the fans two hours of great volleyball: Yellow-blues were in great shape and hit the match playing its best volleyball, greatly rejected Lube’s assaults and played head to head until the last ball touched the floor.
Crucial to the victory was the contribution from the duo Van de Voorde (best scorer with 13 points and 92% percentage) and Solé, whom Giannelli exceptionally exploited during break points. On the long run, the accurate management of the game from Giannelli proved to be the real decisive factor and all three Trentino’s attackers, Urnaut (10), Nelli (12) and Lanza (11) were regularly served. Lube can well regret having lost its main point scorer Sokolov due to an injury.
