Trento, November 13th 2016
The report of the match. For this important match Angelo Lorenzetti chooses Giannelli as setter, Nelli in the opposite role, Lanza and Urnaut as spikers, Solé and Van de Voorde as middle-blockers and Colaci in the libero role. Cucina Lube answers with Christenson as setter, Sokolov (who has been given a price before the start of the match by president Mosna for his 164 matches played with Trento) as opposite, Juantorena and Cebulj as spikers, Stankovic and Cester at the center of the net, and Pesaresi in the opposite role.
The start of the match is nervous and vibrant: the guests try to run away on 1-3 but they are immediately catch by Solé (5-5). But Trento is too contracted and waste too much, conceding a margin of three points to Cucina Lube, which flies at +3 (7-10).Two consecutive blocks on Sokolov, the first by Lanza and the second by Giannelli, manage to take Diatec Trentino to 10-10, but then the yellow-blue team succeeds in getting the first leading point of its match (14-12), taking advantage of two consecutive errors of Juantorena (service and pipe). The time-out of Blengini is not enought to stop the race of Diatec Trentino, which increases its pace with the break-counterattacks of Urnaut and Van de Voorde (18-14). In the final phase of the first set, there is also space for a ace by Van de Voorde (21-16), an excellent pipe of Lanza and an attack error of Stankovic, which make Diatec Trentino go on 25-19.
In the second set the match turns again to be point to point, with Lube always leading for a point of advantage (5-6, 8-9), just before Giannelli, with two aces, and Solé, with a block on Juantorena, let the yellow-blue team take the reins of the match (12-9). Lube doesn't back down this time and manages to get to 13-13 with Juantorena and Sokolov (block on Urnaut). The Bulgarian opposite is performing very well and leads his team to a three points advantage (15-18), Trentino Volley tries to answer with Lanza (18-19), but it is no longer able to be effective during the break and Civitanova takes the opportunity to with the second set on 23-25.
Diatec Trentino tries to start well the third set (6-3), with Lanza and Van de Voorde. Giannelli strikes with his service and the home team is rampaging (10-5), taking also advantage of a failed passage of Juantorena, who Blengini alternates with Kovar. At the worst time, Lube's block starts working again, getting the opponents to 12-10. The time-out of Lorenzetti is providential, because at the restart of the match yellow-blues find their strenght again with Nelli and captain Lanza (15-10). Civitanova makes a new attempt to reach the opponents (16-14, blocks of Sokolov on Nelli and net error of Lanza), but then turns to be a victim of its own mistakes (20-15, Kaliberda strikes out) and of the ankle injury of Sokolov on 22-18 in a net tackle with Urnaut. The next ace of Tine himself and a service error of Juantorena get Diatec Trentino on 2-1 (25-21).
In the fourth set Blengini confirms Casadei in the opposite role and Kaliberda as spiker with Juantorena; Lanza scores on the 6-4 and Solé on the 14-12 and 15-13 with an attack and a block. Lube ties the score on 16-16 with Stankovic; the match turns again to be point to point (19-19) until Cester strikes with a net error and Nelli blocks Casadei (22-19). This is the decisive point that gets Trentino Volley on 3-1 (25-20) and at the first place in the ranking.
