Champions League, Chaumont gains the first round of the Playoffs 12

Eleventh months before the last match, France proves to be a great rival for Trentino Diatec which was defeated with a score of 2-3 at Complex Sportif Rene Tys of Reimsby by Chaumont VB 52 during the first round of the Playoffs 12 of 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League.
Even though the opposite Boyer was absent, the Transalpines managed to show their strength by using a practical and effective technique in particular during the second set. Nevertheless, the defeat in the fifth set doesn’t threaten the yellow-blues’ race for qualifications who will have the opportunity to redeem themselves on Tuesday the 20th of March at PalaTrento and to gain the position for the last double turn before the Final Four. However, the point gained against the French team, during a match that got off on the right foot but that became more complex in the second and third partial, is important. Instead, in the sets that Trentino Diatec lost, Chaumont VB 52 was able to put the yellow-blues on the ropes thanks to its attacks and blocks. In order to recover, Lorenzetti proposed again the formation that include three spikes in the field. This choice was useful during the fourth set but in the last one the French team won the match. The best scorer of Trentino Diatec was the spiker Uros Kovacevic but the best yellow-blues’ player was the middle blocker.
