The match report. Trentino Diatec arrives at Complex Sportif Rene Tys of Reims with: Giannelli as setter, Vettori as opposite, Lanza and Kovacevic as spikers, Eder and Kozamernik middle blockers, De Pandis libero. Chaumont has to play without one of its best players it is the oppisite Boyer and so it proposes: Gonzales as setter, Ben Tara as opposite, Louati and Mijailovic as spikers, Aguenier and Jansen Vandoorn as middle blockers and Mouiel as libero. The beginning of the yellow-blues is impressive because Eder guides his team to the first important sprint with two aces and attacks (7-3); as the time goes by Trento becomes more and more determined in particular in attack and at service thanks to Vettori and Lanza who help the Brasilian middle blocker scoring the +6 (12-6) and then +8 (16-8). After the second technical time-out, the French team tries to react with Louati (16-11), but this is the only moment in which Trentino Diatec have some troubles, because then arrives Kovacevic that thanks to its performance, takes matters in his own hands (21-12). Uros himself scores the 0-1 point (25-17) with a pipe in the away match. The reaction of Chaumont VB 52 materialises at the beginning of the second set and it is guided by the the services of Louati who signs two aces bringing to the first lead (5-8); Lorenzetti tries to find a solution calling a time-out and when the match starts again the yellow-blues reach the 9-10 thanks to Lanza in the net area. In middle of set Trento loses control, making unnecessary mistakes (12-16); when everything seems lost (15-20), the yellow-blues regain confidence with Eder’s service and the attacks of the spikers (20-23). Lorenzetti lines up Zingel instead of Kozamernik; Trentino Diatec gains ground up to 22-24, but then it cedes the set because of Ben Tara (very efficient during all the set) who marks the 22-25. The point-to-point fight continues also in the first part of the third set, Chaumont manage to be in advance twice (3-5, 6-8), taking advantage of the Italians’ mistakes in receiving and in the net area. After the first technical time-out Chaumont goes on with Ben Tara and Louti, who gain the 8-12 and the 10-14. Lorenzetti lines up Teppan but only Kovacevic and Lanza can improve the situation (19-21). The final rush is in favour of Chaumont which reaches the 20-24 thanks to the aces, and one ace of Aguenier closes the set (20-25). Chaumont is now in the lead (1-2). The following set Lorenzetti lines up Lanza as fake opposite and Hoag as spiker; this strategy is very useful for Trentino Diatec (3-1, 8-4), taking advantage of the net area with Kozamernik. Lorenzetti lines up also Vettori and Zingel (instead Lanza and Kozamernik). Zingel, before going out again, realises the breaks that offer a new spark to the team (19-16). This time the yellow-blues protect their advantage (22-20) and they do it until the tiebreak thanks also to the attack out of Ben Tara and to Giannelli’s ace (25-21). The fifth set is fought point-to-point (5-5, 7-7), then Chaumont accelerates thanks to Ben Tara (7-10) and achieve the success (10-15).
