Renee Teppan spikes during the second set (ph. Trabalza)
Here the chronicle of the match. Coach Lorenzetti puts Teppan (in the place of Vettori) and Hoag (instead of Lanza) in the starting six of Trentino Diatec; the other five regulars are confirmed with Gianelli as setter, Kovacevic as spiker, Eder and Kozamernik as middle hitters, De Pandis as libero. Chaumont still has to do without Boyer (he's not even mentioned in the match report) so he proposes Gonzalez as setter, Ben Tara as opposite, Louati and Mijailovic as spikers, Anguenier and Jansen Vandoorn as middle blockers and Mouiel as libero. At first the French team had the best impact, who after an initial point to point struggle (5-5) manage to reach the 6-8 thanks to Jansen Vandoorn, but then Teppan (ace and attack) immediately restores the balance. Ben Tara answers to his opponent with two break points (11-13), forcing the home team to ask for a time-out. Once more the French opposite makes a difference doubling their advantage (14-18). Lorenzetti makes Lanza enter the field (in the place of Kovacevic) and his team reaches the opponents' score once again thanks to Hoag at net (18-19) and then to Pippo (21-21). The final of the set is incredible: the yellow-blues' mistakes make the Chaumont reach the 21-24, Trento hasn't given up and with Eder at service turn the tables (25-24) nullifying three set balls and closing at the first occasion with a side out by the captain (26-24).
The victory of the first set is a comeback one which galvanizes Trentino Diatec. When the team comes back to the field with Lanza and Zingel as regulars plays better than the opponents during the second set, thanks to an efficient attack and service by Lanza and Teppan at the net (9-5). Chaumont tries to get back on track (11-10) and after chasing the home team for long evens (15-15) thanks to an ace by Mijailovic. After the time out the guest team hits the ground running taking advantage by some little errors by Lanza in attack and by Hoag in reception (19-21). The captain immediately reacts with a block over Ben Tara evening again (21-21); during the last part of the set Lanza is determining once again (25-23) scoring the set point which Zingel scored in the first set.
During the third period Trentino Diatec manages to take charge with a score of 5-3, 10-8 thanks to Eder and his initiatives, who makes his presence felt during the first part of the set and proves to be a fierce server. Even on this occasion Chaumont shows to have a great mental and nervous stability and reacts reaching the 10-10 and then scores again with Aguenier's blocks (13-16). Lorenzetti’s time out is well timed because once back on the field the team starts again, placing immediately a partial of 3-0 (16-16) led by Lanza’s services who once more takes the home team in the waterline. The final rush gives endless emotions (19-19, 22-22, 24-24) but smiles again to the yellow-blues who close on the 27-25 (block by Eder over Ben Tara).
