The qualification to the PlayOff 12 of 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League, obtained on Tuesday evening thanks to the 3-0 on Chaumont, gave the possibility to Trentino Volley to be among the best seven teams of the maximum continental trophy, after only one season of absence.
In eight participations overall in CEV Champions League, Trentino Volley didn’t reach that goal in only one occasion (in 2013 when Dinamo Mosca eliminated them in the PlayOff 12); in all the other occasions (2009,2010 and 2011 when they won the final) the city of Trento appeared in the European elite thanks to its men’s team.
“We knew that the match against Chaumont was an important match in our season for many reasons and we are very happy for our victory- explained Eder Carbonera who was playing with the T-shirt of Trentino Volley for the first time in Champions League-. On this occasion we will face an even more difficult double challenge because as the board approaches the finals only the most competitive teams keep going on, but this must not afraid us, quite the opposite, it must push us to do our best. Civitanova e Belchatow are two strong teams, we will face one or the other team with some more weeks of training that will have the aim of improve our abilities in order to win the Final Four”.
The way in which we won the match against Chaumont vouches for even more confidence in our abilities in view of the next matches, beginning with the one against Verona that we will play on Saturday evening.- said the Brazilian middle-blocker-. We must stay focused and attentive until the end as we did against Chaumont; then, of course, I’m proud to have contributed even at service during the last part of the first set. The determination at service was essential but without Zingel’s block and Hoag defence we would lose a part of a match that could change again and again. The team spirit changed the situation and I hope we’ll stand together even during the match against Calzedonia”

Even though Trentino Diatec is waiting to know the name of the opponent of Playoffs 6 of Champions League, it is already aware that the match of the first round will be in Civitanova or in Poland (between the 3rd and the 5th of April) and that the match of the second round will be at BLM Arena in Trento (between the 10th and the 12th of April). The training will start again on Thursday morning, after a rest day.
