Sir Safety Conad-Itas Trentino 0-3, the match report

Here the live commentary of the match. In the occasion of the first official appointment of the season, Angelo Lorenzetti relies on the best possible sextet, with Giannelli as setter, Vettori as opposite, Kovacevic and the former Perugia’s player Russell as spikers, Candellaro and Lisinac at the center and Grebennikov as libero. The hosting Sir Safey Conad instead, during the starting six counts on De Cecco as setter, Atanasijevic as opposite, the long-awaited Leon and Lanza (the first time vs Trento) as wing spikers, Ricci and Podrascanin at the center and Colaci as libero. It’s Itas Trentino who kicks off better, with the two blocks of Giannelli and Russell on the Leon’s attacks (4-1); yet, Perugia does not lag behind and immediately catches up (6-6). However, during the break point Itas Trentino players recover and with Vettori, Lisinac and Giannelli (ace) try to run off again (14-11), but the Sir Safety Conad, now with Leon as setter tie to 19. The final rush is marked by Kovacevic (21-19) and Lisinac (24-22); these points lead already to the end of the first set up 25-22 (Lanza’s hitting mistake). Itas Trentino plays well also in the second stage, regaining its advantage position up 6-4 and keeping it also in the central part of the partial (13-11) thanks to the brilliant side-out phase set by Giannelli. Kovacevic and Grebennikov get excited, leading their peers to the maximum advantage (18-14, Bernardi time out). Yet, during the recovery stage the block of Uros and the one of Lisinac increase the gap (22-16), before Leon tries to fix up the situation (22-19, Lorenzetti’s time). It’s the former Perugia’s player Russell then the one who gets up to the 2-0 (25-21) with his attacks.  During the third set Perugia tries to catch up with the ace’s service of Leon, scoring 5-8; Trento reacts until the 13-14, before another ace (13-16) of De Cecco against the newly entered Van Garderen (for Kovacevic). In the toughest moment, the defenses of Grebennikov and the counter-attacks of Russell help their team to tie up to 18. This also leads to a sprint during which it’s an ace of Nelli (26-24), just stepped in from the bench, after that in Trento he reversed a ball set to Perugia at the 23-24.
