Itas Trentino-Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia 3-0, the match report

Report of the match. For the second home match of the season at BLM Group Arena, Angelo Lorenzetti only changes one player compared to the usual starting six: Giannelli setter, Vettori opposite, Kovacevic and Van Garderen (instead of Russell) as spikers, Lisinac and Candellaro middle-blockers, Grebennikov libero. Antonio Valentini, Vibo Valentia’s coach, responded with Zhukouski as setter, Al Hachdadi opposite, Barreto and Skrimov as spikers, Mengozzi and Vitelli middle-blockers, Marra libero. The match begins with a tie, with Vibo going full force on every ball and serve (3-3, 7-7) and Al Hachdadi trying to break away (9-11); Trento closes in with Van Garderen and Vettori (13-11), scoring break points served by Lisinac. The Dutch player decides the result of the set from the nine meters line scoring three non consecutive aces (18-13); after two time outs called by the visitors, Yellow-blue keep the same energy going and wins 25-17 with Kovacevic on fire. In the second set the Itas Trentino monologue continues and Serbian left-handed bomber almost alone leads 7-2 and 9-4. Vibo tries to replicate with Skrimov (10-6), but it’s time for Vettori to step up the game with a deadly series of attacks and serves (15-9). Tonno Callipo Calabria doesn’t back down, forcing the serve (18-15) and apparently resisting. But Angelo Lorenzetti knows when it’s time to cool off and calls a time-out; as the teams get back Giannelli unleashes the beast in Srecko Lisinac and Itas wins on 25-21 the second set.
It’s a tie also in the third set (5-5, 9-9), until a block by Mengozzi and a counter-attack by Al Hachdadi let Vibo dig the very first gap of the match (12-14). Again, Lorenzetti understands the situation and calls another beneficial time out. Talking with the team seems super effective, as Lisinac first (a block on Skrimov and a winning attack on 16-15) and Van Garderen later (one man block on Al Hachdadi) lead the team (19-19, 21-20) to the 3-0 victory.
