On Sunday Itas Trentino vs Verona: the Gabriele Nelli’s hundredth match in Trentino Volley

The 35th derby between Itas Trentino and Calzedonia Verona, that will be hold on Sunday evening at BLM Group Arena, will be a very interesting event, especially for Gabriele Nelli.
This will be the eighth match of SuperLega Credem Banca 2018/19 (it will start at 6 p.m. - pre-sales still available here: prevendita biglietti ancora attiva) and also a very important moment for the opposite spiker from Lucca: if Angelo Lorenzetti chooses him, the match of Sunday will represent his hundredth attendance with Trentino Volley.
This means a lot: Nelli is the third player of the team (after Lanza and Giannelli) who will reach this result. In his previous 99 matches (6 in 2013/14, 20 in 2014/15, 23 in 2015/16, 43 in 2016/17, 7 in 2018/19), Nelli scored 585 points (21 in 2013/14, 83 in 2014/15, 196/ in 2015/16, 270 in 2016/17, 18 in 2018/19), often being in the bleachers at the beginning but then always able to find his place on the court, playing well, with great humility, ready to help his teammates. Actually, he said that his favourite match with Trentino Volley is one during which he didn’t play.
“Definitely the match I can’t forget is the one played on the 13th May 2015, when we won the fourth championship at PalaPanini di Modena - says Nelli - ; it was very exciting and there’s no comparison between this match and the others, not even my debut. It was the 23rd December 2013 in Perugia and we won 3-2; I don’t remember much of that day but I remember the pride I felt, also because I had my debut in front of my parents and near Toscana, my homeland. 100 matches with Trentino Volley mean a lot to me, I am proud of it ma at the same time they are a starting point.
Here in Trento we always want to do our best, and for this reason my aim is to play more and more matches, starting with the one on Sunday agains Verona. It is a real derby and we are going to play with this in mind. It's an important match: at stake there's fundamental points for ranking up, so we want to let our fans know we're determined to get good results in order to get higher in the championship. I’m expecting a great match; our fans will help and support us”.
