Sada Cruzeiro-Trentino Diatecx 1-3, the match report

Here the live commentary of the match. Trentino Diatecx faces up to the second appointment of its World Club 2018, confirming the winning line-up: Giannelli as settler, Vettori opposite, Kovacevic and Russell spikers, Lisinac and Candellaro in the centre and Grebennikov as libero. The starting six of Sada Cruzeiro has Fernando as settler, Evandro as opposite, Sander and Rodriguinho in the 4 position, Isac and Le Roux in the centre, Serginho as libero. The best opening performance is of the Brazilians, who first with Evandro Guerra (1-3) and then Sander (5-8 and 9-12) manage to be smoother in attack. Trento tries and reacts with Russell (9-10), but Fernando fights back with an ace and then it’s the opposite that through two blocks in a row on Kovacevic enlarges the gap (9-15). Lorenzetti wants two times out within few minutes, without getting the expected reaction though, since also in the set final Sada keeps being ahead (15-20) with a regular pace, also thanks to points gained by the block and to Rodriguinho. The set ends already at 17-25, with Russell who’s the only one trying to fight back.
Things don’t change at the beginning of the second set; the block and the service of the Brazilians keep hurting Trentino Diatecx, which asks for a time out at 4-7. After that, Trentino Diatecx keeps having difficulties during the side-out phase and the break point, and Sada reaches the +4 (10-14) but then Vettori and Kovacevic reopen the match (17-18).
In the most difficult moment of the match, Trentino Diatecx rises again: Lorenzetti chooses Nelli and Van Garderen to replace Vettori and Kovacevic; Trentino Diatecx scores 22-24 and, when the first occasion arrives, they close the set with a Nelli’s ace, followed by a Russell’s break point.
Trento opens the third set with energy and, thanks to Lisinac and Russell, it scores 7-4 and then 15-12, after that Sada had tried (with Evandro Guerra) to reach 12-11.
Mendez changes some strategies and his team reaches 18-17; the restart of Trentino Diatecx is led by Kovacevic (again on the court replacing Van Garderen) and by Russell, who plays perfectly and, together with his teammates, is able to close the set 25-23 (with effort).
During the fourth set the Lorenzetti’s team takes the lead and scores 6-4 and 10-8 thanks to Nelli and Russell, trying to close the entire match in four sets. Sada fights and is able to tie 15-15. From that moment the two teams score 18-18 and then 20-20; Nelli tries to find a new strategy (22-20), immediately surpassed by the Sander’s strokes (22-23). Thanks to a Giannelli’s ace and a Lisinac’s block, Trentino Diatecx closes the match for 3-1 with 27-25.
