Cucine Lube Civitanova-Trentino Diatecx 1-3, the report of the match

Report of the match. In front of the 5’600 spectators in Hala Sportowa in Czestochowa Trentino Diatecx started with Giannelli as setter, Vettori opposite, Kovacevic and Russell spikers, Lisinac and Candellaro middle-blockers and Grebennikov libero. Cucine Lube Civitanova on the other side of the net deployed Bruno as setter, Sokolov opposite, Juantorena and Leal as spikers, Stankovic and Simon middle-blockers, Balaso libero. Yellow-blues are more effective and, thanks to former Lube player Candellaro at the serve, dig a gap on 5-2 and later 8-5 with a mistakes by Juantorena. The gap expands when Lisinac attacks and blocks Lube’s guns (14-10), Medei is forced to call a time-out. Juantorena with a block and Russell’s mistake close the gap on 15-14; Trentino Diatecx scores three points, block by Giannelli and two break points by Kovacevic, for the +5 (22-17) and closes the set on 25-20 with a slash by Lisinac.
Replicating the first set start, Yellow-blues go on 3-1 first and on 9-7 later, with Kovacevic leading the team. Simon shows a fierce reaction and takes over on 9-11, Lorenzetti calls a time-out; Vettori scores the tie points at 11 and Russell tries to break away on 16-15. The final rush is exciting to say the least: both team push hard from the serve, Vettori scores on 20-19 but Lube team doesn’t back down and blocks Kovacevic twice 22-23 (Leal and Stankovic) and wins the second set with a monster block by Simon on Russell (22-25).
It’s a tie also in the start of third set (8-8), before Lisinac scores (12-10) and Trento expands the gap (16-13 at the technical time out) with a one man block by Vettori on Leal. The same cuban spiker strikes back from the nine meters line (16-16) but Candellaro starts a new offensive (21-18) with two blocks on Stankovic and Simon. It’s the decisive rush, as Lube cannot react and Trentino wins 25-20.
On the final set coach Medei sends D’Hulst in instead of Bruninho but Lube still struggles (4-1); Trento doesn’t exploit this defaillance and Stankovic ties on 5-5. Lube leads on 9-10 and 10-12 with another block by Stankovic. Russell scores the new tie (15-15) and Kovacevic with the serve digs the new, fundamental, gap on 19-15. It’s the last effort; the sets is won on 25-18 with a spike by Russell: World Champions!
