Lindaren Amriswil-Trentino Itas 0-3, the match report

Report of the match. Angelo Lorenzetti keeps Kovacevic on the bench and confirms Maarten Van Garderen in the starting six; Giannelli as setter, Vettori opposite, Russell and Van Garderen as spikers, Lisinac and Candellaro as middle-blockers, Grebennikov libero. Marki Klok, dutch coach of the home team, chose Howatson as setter, Zass opposite spiker, Gommans and Djokic wing spikers, Ljubicic and Kamnik as middle-blockers, Daniel libero. Home team starts with a good serve approach on 2-4, Yellow-blues tie up with a block by Van Garderen on Gommans and Russell with the pipe takes off (5-6). Giannelli with the ace leads on +3 (9-6), Lisinac scores another ace and keeps the Swiss away after an attempted comeback (9-8 and 11-8), Vettori brings the result on 13-9. The second part of the set is marked by the series of serves by Candellaro (16-11, timeout of the home team), that allows the World Champion to win the first set (19-14, 22-15) without much pressure, since Lindaren with his opposite Zass often commits fault. The set is closed on 25-21 because Trento let the guard down on the serve of new entered Brandl and had four set balls cancelled before Russell scored the winning pipe.
Vettori and the american spiker are very effective in the second set (5-2) but the good performance of Zass and a mistake by Lisinac let Lindaren take the lead (6-5). The same serbian middle-blocker with an ace and Candellaro with a block on Djokic dig a gap on 9-5; later Van Garderen contributes to the +5 lead (11-6). It’s not the final effort though, as the usual Zass (scoring a block on Van Garderen) fight back (13-10); it takes a pipe by Russell and an ace by Giannelli to reopen the gap on 16-10. The set continues with Trentino Itas performing on high percentages (19-14, 21-16 and 23-18) with all the spikers; the 2-0 come with a block by Van Garderen on Zass (25-19). Amriswil starts the third set with new energies, scoring with great serves and winning blocks; on 0-5 Lorenzetti calls his first time out of the match. Yellow-blues close in on 5-6 making the best out of the mistakes of the home team and Russell’s serve signs the lead 7-6. Lisinac blocks Gommans for the +2 (9-7), Trento pushes harder with Russell (15-12) but suffers the Swiss comeback (19-18). Giannelli scores an ace that wakes the team up (21-18) and the third set is won on 25-20.
