Today and tomorrow it is time for the 23rd turn of SuperL ega Credem Banca 2018/19, the tenth one of the return round. On this occasion Itas Trentino will play its second-last away match of regular season, precisely on 3rd of March at Revivre Axopower Milano. HERE ITAS TRENTINO After the match in Athens, the World Champions are going to face the second tough consecutive match of the ongoing week pointing at defending the current second ranking position which is threatened by Cucine Lube Civitanova (which is one point away from Itas and will play on Sunday in Latina).
The match we are going to play in Milan could prepare us at the atmosphere we will experience within some weeks during the Play Off Scudetto – affirms coach Angelo Lorenzetti presenting the appointment - ; we are going to compete a very tough match but we want to make the best of it trying and keeping our second ranking position. We are going to face a Revivre Axopower whose players will be great shape, coming back from a great amount of victories that has powered them and we are aware of the importance of achieving positive results in a row. They did really well and is reaping the rewards of a pathway which was not easy at all, difficult at the beginning but that then went better and better. In a certain way what Milano is doing in this regular season reminds me of what we happened to achieve during the last season”. Itas Trentino is completing the match preparation by doing the training today’s afternoon at BLM Group Arena before departing for Busto Arsizio. All the thirteen roster players are available, who on this occasion are looking for the 336th success of regular season, the 560th ever out of 802 official matches.
THE OPPONENTS Revivre Axopower is hosting Itas Trentino at PalaYamamay in its best time ever. Coming back after nine consecutive victories in championship, that have led them to the fourth ranking position (to share with Modena), Andrea Giani’s team has achieved the most points in the return round (24 vs 23 points of Perugia and Civitanova and 22 of Trento) and it has been competing without being defeated for more than two months by now. The last ko indeed was the 0-3 in Perugia; after that result they have achieved four home successes and five away. At PalaYamamay, moreover, only the hosting team has gained victories so far, apart from Latina and Monza, yet it was not in a great moment for Milano, since Abdel-Aziz was having some physical issues. Yet at the moment the Dutch opposite is in great shape, as demonstrated by the 14 points with 60% scored in the three sets success last Sunday in Verona. On that occasion the central and captain Piano had to stop playing because of an injury, so that he will be replaced by Bossi in the starting six. Milano is the second best team of the championship in terms of block points (203 winning blocks, of which 35 were scored by the former player Kozamernik) and the fourth best team what aces regards, also thanks to the contributions by the spikers Maar and Cleveno.
PREVIOUS MATCHES On Sunday it will be the tenth match between Trentino Volley and Power Volley Milano (Society since 2013 and now at the fourth consecutive season in the highest Italian championship). The whole balance is in favour of Itas Trentino for 8-1, since Milano only won on the 15th October 2017 in Trento (2-3 with Abdel-Aziz as mvp, 28 points). The home match of Revivre is going to be competed for the third season in a row in Busto Arsizio; the two previous matches in PalaYamamay were won by Itas: on 5th of February 2017 (3-0) and on 30th of December 2017 (3-2). The other ones were played at Assago Forum on the 8th of February 2015 and on the 5th of December 2015 at PalaBorsani, in Castellanza. They also won in the three set match of going round, played the last 12th of December at BLM Group Arena (partials of 25-18, 25-16, 25-23). In ist previous 14 seasons in top league Trentino Volley had already faced other two teams from the region of Milan (Lombardy): Asystel on 6 occasions and Sparkling twice, between 2007 and 2008. Overall Trento is in a great advantage position: 11 victories against the 6 of the Lombardy teams.
REFEREES The match will be directed by Stefano Cesare (first referee in Roma, in Serie A since 1999 and international since 2010) and Rossella Piana (second referee in Carpi - Modena, since 2005 and international since 2014). For the two referees this match represents their third one directed together in SuperLega Credem Banca 2018/19; this is the 14th match for Cesare (back to Trento after having directed Trento-Modena on 16th December 2018) and the 11th one for Piana (who directed the match against Vibo Valentia on 13th January - victory 3-1).
