“Facciamo muro contro la Povertà”, the tenth edition in Nairobi

The international activity of Trentino Volley did not end last week with the victory of the 2019 CEV Cup. In addition to the team that won the eighteenth trophy of the yellow-blue history in Istanbul, there is indeed another one that works hard to carry out the project "facciamo muro contro la povertà" in Africa. The week that is about to end will be remembered as the one that gave further impulse to the fourth year of activity, already started in mid-October in Dagoretti, a district in Nairobi, and coordinated by Amref Health Africa and Trentino Volley. After the excellent feedback obtained in the first forty-one months of project, the technician Dario Sanna has in fact returned to Kenya these days to supervise and guide the organizational and the volleyball activities of the tenth project mission: a task that is not simple, but very stimulating that the coach is carrying out with great enthusiasm and with the precious experience accumulated during the years 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18.
“Compared to the previous missions we started practically from scratch, starting to train a group of young boys, between seven and fifteen years of age, who never before had had the opportunity to get closer to sport and in particular to volleyball – explained Sanna from Kenya - . Our staff is teaching the basics of volleyball to about forty boys, who are divided into three teams, and in the next few months they will work to learn the fundamentals and the philosophy behind this wonderful sport. It may seem trivial but already this kind of mentality is able to offer something important to the young people of Dagoretti, who every day have to deal with the lack of water and with sharing the few resources available. Therefore, during this mission there is a lot of work on the Mutuini playing field but also meetings to know each other better and to team up. During my stay in Nairobi I will try to offer further indications to the local coaches, who in the meantime have continued to improve their knowledge and taken more and more confidence in teaching the game techniques".
Therefore, the "facciamo muro contro la povertà" project will experience other similar moments in the coming weeks, linked both to the game but also to the human growth.
