2019 Credem Banca Play Off scudetto, on Sunday in Padova match 2 of the Quarter Finals

On Sunday April 7th at Kioene Arena in Padova it’s time for the match 2 of the 2019 Scudetto Credem Banca Playoff quarter finals. Itas Trentino goes to Veneto with the chance of winning the access to the semifinals, currently leading 1-0 the series out of three matches. Live on RAI Sport + and Radio Dolomiti, the match starts at 6 pm.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO Last Sunday’s 3-0 victory during match 1 gives Yellow-blues the first of two match balls to try and access for the eleventh time in the last twelve seasons the Play Off Scudetto semifinals qualification. In Padova the World Champions will try to close the series and earn more than a week of rest before preparing the next series.
“The first match in Trento cannot be a good benchmark of the quality of the two teams - warned coach Angelo Lorenzetti - . Due to many reasons, both teams didn’t play well constantly and the results was decided by single players. On Sunday in Padova I believe we’ll see another level of volleyball, our job will be harder because at home Kioene shows more quality, especially at the serve and defense, with the players supported by great fans”.
The team will arrive in Padova tonight, after a training session at BLM Group Arena in the afternoon. Match 2 of the quarter finals of the 2019 Scudetto Credem Banca is the 47th match of the season for Trentino Volley: so far 40 victories and 6 defeats. At the Kioene Arena it’s also the 113th match in the Play Off Scudetto (68 victories, 44 defeats), the 51st at the quarterfinals. During the previous sixteen participation to the first round of the rank, Trentino Volley won the second match of the series ten times.
THE OPPONENT Kioene Padova is getting ready to play the most important match of the last three seasons, forced to win next match in order to live and fight another day in the Play Off Scudetto (last time was 2016); the team called the fans that will likely fill every seat in the Kioene Arena. The team coached by Baldovin will try to exploit the court factor because in order to extend the series and play another match at BLM Group Arena the need a victory; this season at home the black and white team have won nine of the thirteen matches they played, stopping also Perugia and Modena. Most likely the outcome of the match will depend on the performances of opposite spiker Torres and wing spiker Barnes, but also on the overall performance at the block and serve, fundamentals they usually perform better in their own arena.
PREVIOUS MATCHES The one that will take place in Padova will be the 32nd official match between the two Clubs, the fourth of this season; the balance speaks in favour of yellow-blue colours, which won twenty-seven times; Trento can also boast a series, not ended yet, of twenty-one victories in a row which started more than fourteen years ago. Last Padova’s victory is dated back to February 13th 2005, when the hosting team won 3-2 at Pala San Lazzaro (now Kioene Arena). Padova won only two other times, both 3-2, in all the other fourteen previous matches played at its home. Last direct match played in Padova is dated back to October 24th 2018: 3-1 victory with 17 scored points of the mvp Kovacevic.
THE SERIES Itas Trentino is ahead 1-0 in the quarter-final series which is played with the best-of-three formula, thanks to the 3-0 obtained at BLM Group Arena on March 31st (25-21, 25-20, 25-23) during match 1. Match 2 will be played on Sunday in Padova and could be the last one in case of a yellow-blue victory. Match 2 would be eventually played only if Kioene will win match 2 and would be scheduled for Saturday April 13th in Trento starting from 8.30 p.m. (time yet to be confirmed; it could be anticipated to 6 p.m. due to broadcasting needs). The team who will obtain the qualification for the next phase will find the winning team of the series between Civitanova and Verona (which sees Civitanova ahead 1-0) in semi-finals (which will be played with the best-of-five formula and will start on Tuesday April 16th). The second match between Monza and Perugia (0-1) will be played on Sunday as well, whereas Milano-Modena (0-1) will be played tonight already.
REFEREES Match 2 will be whistled by Alessandro Tanasi (from Noto, in Serie A since 2002) and Luca Sobrero (from Carcare – Savona, referee from 1996 and international referee from 2004). The couple will whistle its third match together in SuperLega Credem Banca 2018/19. Tanasi, who will whistle his thirteenth match, will find Itas Trentino after having whistled the previous yellow-blue away match in Veneto (3-2 defeat in Verona on February 18th) whereas Sobrero (who will whistle the fourteenth match of his season) hasn’t met yellow-blues for more than a year: his last match with Trentino Volley is dated back to February 11th 2018 (3-0 home victory versus Piacenza).
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET Next match will be a global media event since it will benefit from a live broadcast through all kind of medias. It will be broadcast by RAI Sport +, which is present on the digital terrestrial platform (channel 57 in HD, 58 in sd)  and on Sky at channel 227, with live commentary by Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta; images will be available on the Internet in audio-video streaming by clicking at www.raisport.rai.it.
A live broadcast will be available as usual on Radio Dolomiti, radio partner of Trentino Volley, starting from 6.55 p.m. All the frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found on www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will be also possible to listen to the live commentary in streaming, by entering the “On Air” section.
The deferred match will be broadcast on tv on Monday April 8th at 9.50 p.m. on RTTR – tv partner of Trentino Volley.
