Cucine Lube Civitanova-Itas Trentino 3-0, the match report

Report of the match. The starting six proposed by the two coaches are those seen on the field in the match played on Monday 22 at BLM Group Arena. Lorenzetti confirms Giannelli as setter, Vettori as opposite, Kovacevic and Russell as spikers, Candellaro and Lisinac in the middle and Grebennikov as libero. De Giorgi replies with Bruno as setter, Sokolov as opposite, Juantorena and Leal as spikers, Cester and Simon in the middle, Balaso as libero. The beginning of the match is nervous for both the teams. Trento starts better (5-3) but misses a lot in service, allowing the opponents to reach them (9-12) when Russell goes into difficulty in reception and in attack. The time out of Lorenzetti is very productive, because at the resumption of the match the yellow-blue team tie 14-14 thanks to an ace by Giannelli on Balaso. Lube feels the danger and starts again with Juantorena, who almost alone with attacks and service builds a new +3 (16-19). The guests suffer in reception (17-21); an ace of Russell, again on Balaso, brings them back on the right way (19-21), but then Sokolov and Simon (wall on Kovacevic) close the first set (21-25).
At the start of the second part the match is tight (5-5, 8-8), then an error by Vettori and a block by Simon on Kovacevic open a gap (8-11), forcing Lorenzetti to interrupt the game. Itas Trentino starts again with Vettori, but Simon does not concede anything (16-20, wall on the opposite). The yellow-blue no longer respond, overwhelmed by the ace of Sokolov (17-23, 19-25).
In the third set the World Champions do their best (4-2, 8-5), taking advantage of the incisiveness of their service and of Vettori at the net. De Giorgi's time-out allows the Cucine Lube to tie at nine with Juantorena in the service, Leal in attack and Simon at the net. Trento restarts (11-9), but is immediately stopped again by Juantorena (15-16). The final set is very tight (17-17, 20-20), the champions earn four consecutive set balls, without being able to exploit them; on the third occasion Lube closes the series with an attack by Leal (29-31).
