2019 Del Monte® Supercup: the guide to the semifinal Perugia-Trento Of Friday (6:00 pm)

TRENTINO VOLLEY The two matches of the 2019/20 regular season played before his evemt have demonstrated how the team has already reached an interesting condition in shape and acquired a group mentality: useful elements for putting an end at both challenges 3-0, even though Ravenna and Monza tied to male this difficult. For the fist knockout competition of the fourth season in the bleachers of Trentino Volley, the coach can count on all the thirteen players of the shortlist. In the bleachers of Trentino Volley there are twelve players who can boast one or more matches in the Italian Supercup: Luca Vettori is the one who has won the most (two out of four), whereas the only debutante is the Cuban Luis Sosa Sierra. For the Trentino Volley the semifinal with Perugia will be the 818 official match of his twenty years history, the thirteenth to play in absolute at the Eurosuole Forum, where, in the past, the team has always lost.
THE TENTH FINAL OF SUPERCUP IN THE HISTORY OF TRENTINO VOLLEY The one that will start on Friday will be the tenth participation in the final of the Italian Supercup for Trentino Volley. In this single event the team boasts nine preceding; in addiction to the four final places obtained in the editions 2016 and 2017 (played respectively in Modena and Civitanova) and to the second place obtained in 2018 in Perugia, the preceding in the event are related to the competitions of Florence in 2008 (0-3 against Macerata), Turin in 2010 (0-3 against Cuneo), Cagliari in 2011 (3-1 against Cuneo), Modena in 2012 and 2015 (2-3 against Macerata and 2-3 against the hosts) and Trento in 2013 (3-0 against Macerata): two victories out of nine participations. So, the presence at this event will bring Trentino Volley to improve his record in the history of the competition: none of the teams had participated never before to so many finals in the last few years. Treviso, for example, it was the protagonist for five times in six different seasons between 1996 (the first edition) and the 2001.
THE OPPONENT PLAYERS Sir Safety Conad Perugia showed few but significant changes at the Final Four in Civitanova Marche compared to the previous season when they won their second Italian Cup. Their news: the coach Vital Heynen (World Champion in Italy in 2018 with the Polish National Team), the Russian middle hitter (taken from Ravenna) and the Ukrainian setter Plotnytskyi. They should give an impulse to the already existing team, but the difference will necessarily have to be made by the attackers Leon-Atanasijevic. The first three games played in the regular season have offered contrasting results and five of the nine points available in the standings through the successes in Latina (3-2) and Verona (3-0) and the home defeat with Milan. But the game with Calzedonia last Sunday showed that the team’s growing as the Umbrian Company does.
PREVIOUS Trento and Umbria boast of thirty-two direct confrontations, two of which played in the same phase of the last two previous editions of the trophy (with one victory on each side).  From this point of view the most recent memory is also the sweetest for the gialloblù team, since the Itas Trentino, a bit 'to surprise, October 6, 2018 imposed the home stop in three sets to the new Umbrian Italian Champions. The total balance sees the Club of via Trener ahead 18-14 also thanks to the two wins on three games played in the last season, the last of which last January 5 at the BLM Group Arena (3-0). Perugia, however, has won eight of the last twelve previous ones; among these the victory obtained at the Eurosuole Forum on 7 October 2017 in the semifinals of the Super Cup, which was then won by Sir Safety Conad.
REFEREES Fipav elected the six referees for the semifinal and final, but it didn’t make known the composition of the couples among the games, which will be make known this evening. The list of names includes Alessandro Cerra (Bologna), Massimo Florian (Treviso), Rossella Piana (Modena), Daniele Rapisarda (Udine), Ilaria Vagni (Perugia) and Marco Zavater (Rome).
HALL OF FAME OF ITALIAN SUPERCOPPA The opening of the twenty-fourth edition of Italian Supercoppa will take place in Civitanova Marche on Friday. Hall of fame: Treviso with 7 wins, followed by Cuneo, Lube and Modena (outgoing champion) with four wins, then Trento with two, Perugia and Piacenza with one.
THE SCHEDULE OF FINAL FOUR Semifinal on Friday 1 November at Eurosuole Forum; Perugia-Trento first and then Civitanova-Modena at 3:30 pm. The final between the two winning teams will take place the following day at 6:00 pm. All the matches will be live broadcast by RAI Sport+ HD.
