2020 CEV Champions League, the recover of the first round on Sunday in Civitanova

After a month of break, the 2020 CEV Volleyball Champions League is starting again. On Sunday 26 January Trentino Itas will face Pool A's first away game, playing in Civitanova Marche against Cucine Lube. For this reason, the SuperLega match scheduled for this weekend in Verona has been postponed to February 26th. The beginning of the match is scheduled at 6.00 p.m at Eurosystem Forum: live on Radio Dolomiti and DAZN.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO After winning the Del Monte Coppa Italia Final Four qualification, Trentino Volley immediately faces another away game with the aim of obtaining another surprising result. "It is an important but not decisive appointment like the one we experienced on Thursday evening and the one we will play in Turkey in a few days - confirms the coach Angelo Lorenzetti - . In such a busy period of matches, we must be able to manage our forces and focus only on one match at a time. The Sunday’s match in Civitanova unquestionably presents many difficulties, both for the high level of the opponent and for the physical problems we will have to deal with. Above all, however, I expect the team to be able to play a high level volleyball with a positive attitude“.
The Trentino coach will have to evaluate the physical conditions of Kovacevic and Russell; if they don't play, Sosa Sierra and baby Michieletto are ready to play. The match at Eurosuole Forum will be the 127th European game in the history of Trentino Volley, the 87th ever in the Champions League, in which the yellow-blue team has won 68 times.
SIXTH ITALIAN DERBY IN THE EUROPEAN CUPS For Trentino Volley the game that will be played in Pool A against Civitanova will be the sixth Italian derby ever in the European cups. The most recent match was played two seasons ago in the Champions League and always against the Marches, but previously there was a tricolor match also in the 2017 CEV Cup against Piacenza in the quarterfinals (double victory, 3-0 away and 3 -1 at home). The other three matches had all been played (and won) three times against Lube, always in the Champions League: 3-0 in the semifinal of the 2009 edition, 2-3 and 3-0 in the Playoffs 6 of 2012 and 3-0 in the semifinal of the 2016 edition.
THE OPPONENTS The Cucine Lube Civitanova awaits the visit of Trentino Itas for the first of four matches that will be played in the next fifty days. The two teams will also play on February 13th in Trento for the return match of Champions' Pool A, on February 22nd in Bologna for the Italian Cup semifinal and on March 8th again in the Marches for the regular season match. Sunday's match will offer the yellow-blue team the opportunity to move up in the standings if they win. De Giorgi's team arrives at the appointment after winning the last two matches in four sets (last Sunday in Cisterna di Latina and Wednesday at the Eurosoles Forum against Monza). The results canceled the defeat against Milan in the first match in front of their audience after waiting more than a month and a half.
THE POOL SITUATION After the first two days there are two teams at the top of the ranking: Civitanova (6 points) and Trento (5 points), who played one game less than Ceske Budejovice (one win, 2 points) and Fenerbahce (0 wins, 2 points). Between the 28th and 30th of January there will be the next round (the first of the return match). The first classified of Pool A will enter the quarterfinals of the tournament
PREVIOUS MATCHES Trentino Volley and Lube will compete for the 70th official match of their history, the second of the season taking into account also the regular season match played at the BLM Group Arena in Trento last December 22nd (success for 1-3 of the Marches, with partial of 27-29, 25-17, 14-25, 20-25). Lube has an advantage on Trento for 37-32, thanks to sixteen victories in the last eighteen matches. The only recent victories in Trento are those relating to the 2018 World Cup Club Final (3-1 in Czestochowa) on December 2nd and the Playoff round 3 on April 22nd (3-1 in Trento). The challenge has deep roots also in the European field, in which there are also the semifinal of the 2009 edition in Prague, the double precedent of the Playoffs 6 of the 2012 edition and the 2018 edition and the semifinal of the 2016 edition. At the Eurosuole Forum Trento has never won: ten defeats in as many previous matches (thirteen, with three Supercoppa matches played against Perugia and Modena), including the last played against Lube on April 25th 2019 (0- 3 in round 4 of the semifinal of Play Off Scudetto).
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Epaminondas Gerothodoros, first referee from Athens, and Zsolt Mezöffy, the second referee from Budapest. Only Gerothodoros has precedents with Trentino Volley: in the Champions League on the occasion of the 3-0 win against Czestochowa on March 11th 2009 (Champions League quarter-finals) at PalaTrento and the identical score against Tours on December 5th 2012 (match of pool phase).
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV The match will be live on Radio Dolomiti, media partner of Trentino Volley at 6pm on www.radiodolomiti.com by clicking on the section “On Air”.
