The 2nd best ever international winning streak is closed after 17 consecutive victories

The 0-3 defeat last Sunday evening in Civitanova Marche put an end to the winning streak achieved consecutively in the international field by Trentino Volley, but it ended to applause anyway after 17 victories.
The team achieved this result in exactly thirteen months, starting on 21 November 2018 in Lausanne (Switzerland) thanks to the 3-0 victory of the away match of the round of thirty-two of 2019 CEV Cup, and keeping it up until 19 December 2019 (3-0 home victory against Budejovice in the third day of Pool A of Champions League). This is the second best international winning streak in the 20-year history of Trentino Volley, the best one having been achieved during the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, with twenty victories.
During the period that just ended, the team achieved successes in three different competitions: five in Club World Cup 2018, ten in 2019 CEV Cup and two in 2020 CEV Champions League. The overall statistics validate even more the work of Lorenzetti’s team, which won ten times with a score of 3-0, five times 3-1 and twice at the tie break for a total of 51 sets won and only 9 lost (quotient 5,66).
It is interesting that the defeat was against Civitanova, the same opponent that had defeated the team for the last time in the international field (12 April 2018, 2-3 in the home match of the second round of Playoffs 6 of CEV Champions League). The defeat at the Eurosuole Forum made Itas Trentino loose the head of the leader board of Pool A, and now it will have to defend the second position from Fenerbahce (the next opponent, on Thursday afternoon in Turkey) and Budejovice, in order to get to the quarterfinals (to which the three best second teams of the five days of Main Phase have access).
