SuperLega, back on the field on Wednesday at the BLM Group Arena

SuperLega Credem Banca 2019/20: the teams are back on the field for the nineteenth day of regular season, which will take place in the next two days. On Wednesday, 5 February Itas Trentino will play at the BLM Group Arena against Allianz Milano. The start is planned for 20:30: live on Radio Dolomiti and Lega Volley Channel.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO After four away matches and eighteen days of waiting, the team is ready to finally play a home match, and this will be a particularly delicate occasion, as Milano is the direct opponent for the fourth place of the ranking at the moment.
“Last Sunday night in Piacenza we got back to the championship after almost two weeks dedicated to the Cups, but on Wednesday we will see our audience which hasn’t seen us play live for too long. – explained the coach Angelo Lorenzetti presenting the appointment - . We want to offer continuity more than results, with a positive follow-up to the good performance against Piacenza. The match against Milano will be important and difficult at the same time, because we will face an opponent with a similar position and against which we played two weeks ago. This match will be different from the one on 23 January; that one was unique because the qualification for the Final Four was at stake and it involved more emotion, and this won’t probably happen this time”.
In view of the match, the coach of Itas Trentino recovered the whole roster; in the last few days, including today, Kovacevic joined the group training, offering an additional option on high ball. This will be the 838th official match in the history of Trentino Volley, the 385th on the home field, and the eventual victory would be the 585th, the 306th at the BLM Group Arena.
THE OPPONENTS As Allianz Milano didn’t play last Sunday it has been able to prepare itself better for this appointment and to recover from last week’s away match in Croatia for the round of sixteen. The 3-0 victory against Mladost Ribola Kastela allowed the team coached by Roberto Piazza to get over the two defeats collected against Itas Trentino and Perugia, which made Milano loose, respectively, the access to the Final Four of Coppa Italia and the fourth place of the ranking. With three points less than Itas Trentino and the same number of matches played, Sbertoli’s team will need to win in order to keep the position in which they has ended the first half of the season. To do so, Allianz Milano will surely rely on the Dutch opposite Abdel-Aziz, the best scorer of the competition with 390 points in sixteen matches and the second aceman of the championship. The recovery of Alletti and the arrival of Okolic offered the technical staff those alternatives that were missing in the past months, forcing the team to play with the spikers Clevenot and Gironi taking turns in position 3. An arrangement that paid off, but that could now be substituted by the more traditional one.
PREVIOUS RECORDS Wednesday match will be the thirteenth competition between Trentino Volley and Powervolley Milano (which was born in 2013 and is now at its fifth season of Superlega in a row); the results are 11-1 for Itas Trentino, but the only victory achieved by Milano was in a match played in Trento on 15 October 2017, 2-3 with Abdel-Aziz mvp (28 points). The previous home match was played on 12 December 2018: 3-0 victory for Itas Trentino with Kovacevic mvp. Two matches have already been played this season, both at the PalaLido in Milan: 3-1 for Itas Trentino on 17 November (sets: 25-18, 24-26, 18-25, 21-25 and Russell best player) and 3-0 for Itas Trentino again on 23 January in the quarter-finals of Coppa Italia (sets: 23-25, 19-25, 19-25 and Grebennikov mvp). In its previous fourteen seasons in Serie A, Trentino Volley has already faced other two teams from Milan: Asystel in six occasions between 2000 and 2003 and Sparkling in two occasions between 2007 and 2008.
THE REFEREES The referees will be Alessandro Cerra (from Bologna, in Serie A since 2014) and Mauro Goitre (from Torino, in Serie A since 2016). This will be the seventh match for Cerra this season; one was the semi-finals of Supercoppa Italiana 2019, lost 1-3 by Trentino Volley against Perugia in Civitanova on 1 November. For Goitre this will be the eighth match of regular season, the second involving Trento, the first one having been played on 1 December (another defeat against Perugia after four sets).
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV The match will be completely live covered by Radio Dolomiti, media partner of Trentino Volley. The link-ups from Monza will be made during “Dolomiti Sport Show”, the sport program of Radio Dolomiti. The frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found on the website www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to listen to the radio report in live streaming.
