Match report. Itas Trentino can again rely on Kovacevic, whom Lorenzetti immediately lines up on the court together with Russell as spiker, Giannelli as setter, Vettori as opposite hitter, Lisinac and Candellaro as middle-blockers and Grebennikov as libero. Sora lines up Radke as setter, Miskevich as opposite hitter, Van Tilburg and Grozdanov as spikers, Scopellitti and Di Martino as middle-blockers, Sorgente as libero. The match starts at a slow pace for our team, who find it hard to express their way of playing (1-3, 5-6) and keep the tempo of their opponents who do not manage to take a large lead due to a number of mistakes at serving phase (8-8, 12-12). The turning point comes with Russell at service; the American volleyballer scores an ace and brings about another break point, scored by Uros for 16-13, then Trentino's block does a great job (18-14). However, this is not the decisive momentum, as the guests go up to a one-point lead (20-19), taking advantage of Vettori's difficulties at net; Lorenzetti's time out is essential and Trento takes a big lead again (23-19) and win the first set for 25-21 (Russell's successful attack). Nothing changes in the second set; Lorenzetti keeps Codarin on the court in Candellaro's place (a substitution already occurred in the middle of the previous set) but our team takes a few minutes before taking full control of the match (from 7-7 to 10-7) thanks to great plays from Kovacevic and Lisinac. Vettori raise his level of playing (13-8, 16-10) and Sora is not able to respond blow by blow anymore, overwhelmed by Russel’s efficiency at service and at net (20-12). The 2-0 comes in on the 25-18, with Sosa Sierra and Aaron also on the court.
In the third set the reaction of Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate lasts just a few minutes, the time for the Gialloblù team to go up from 1-3 and push forward on 9-6 with Kovacevic and Giannelli spurts (ace). In the starting line-up there is Sosa Sierra, who helps the Gialloblù team to improve thanks to the attack and batting (15-9, 17-11). The 3-0 win materializes on 25-17 with Daldello and De Angelis on the field.
