Amarcord, twelve years ago the first historic qualification for the Scudetto Final

April 23, 2008 - April 23, 2020: today's gialloblù calendar brings back to an unforgettable event for Trentino Volley. The team won the first historic Final Play Off Scudetto qualification exactly twelve years ago.
The pass for the final act of the Italian championship was won by taking over the field of M. Roma Volley in just three partials. The 3-0 success in the Eternal City with the scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-18 closed the semifinal series already on 2-0 and allowed the then Itas Diatec Trentino to confirm itself to the end as the number one seed on the scoreboard, taking into account that a few weeks earlier the team coached by Stoytchev had won the regular season overcoming the equal number of Cuneo points for more victories (21 to 20).
After the victory won three days earlier at the PalaTrento in three sets, Grbic and his team-mates gave Roma an encore, thanks to a great performance played on the block (scoring eleven times, four with Birarelli and three with Jeroncic) and, among the singles, by Matey Kaziyski, who scored 16 personal points with 52% on attack, three ace and one block (mvp). Nikolov (10) also reached the double figure and was touched by Winiarski (9); the M. Roma Volley of the former Tofoli, Savani and Kooistra never managed to take control of the game, also because the block defence controlled both Marshall (9) and Miljkovic (6) were perfect.
The qualification to the Scudetto Final revealed all the potential of this team and the passion shown by Trentino public, which already the following morning unleashed the race to the ticket for game 1 (the sold out was reached already in the afternoon). To win his first ever title, Trentino Volleyball needed another home game, game 3, won 3-0 on May 7 against Piacenza then coached by Angelo Lorenzetti.
In its 20-year history, the Club of Via Trener later obtained seven more qualifications for the Scudetto Final, but it is undeniable that the finish line, which was reached for the first time twelve years ago, represents a memorable page of the long gialloblù path.
