Itas Trentino-Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza 3-0, the match report

The match report. The announcement of the starting six doesn’t have any particular news; Itas Trentino has to do without Kooy and presents itself in the field with seven players who have given a show only six days before against Civitanova: Giannelli as setter, Nimir as opposite spiker, Michieletto and Lucarelli as spikers, Lisinac and Podrascanin as middle blockers, Rossini libero. Gas Sales Bluenergy is without Grozer and Hierrezuelo, and responds with Baranowicz as setter, Finger as opposite spiker, Polo and Mousavi as middle blockers, Scanferla libero, Clevenot and Russell as spikers (awarded together with Candellaro before the kick-off). The start is very impressive for the hosts, who with Michieletto at service go from 3-3 to 6-3, using the great block-defence system that permits instant reconstructions for Podrascanin and Nimir. Later, the advantage rises again (9-5, 13-8) because Lucarelli enters in the match as well, scoring also the first ace of the match. At the half of the partial, Bernardi has already used both time outs, but Trento is unstoppable and doesn’t want to stop its rhythm (17-11, 19-12 and 21-13), also because Nimir is on fire (25-16).
The contest returns balanced at the start of the second set (4-4, 8-7), a moment in which Piacenza finds strength in attack; but it is a matter of only a transition because the gialloblù gets back to score during the phase of break point with Lucarelli (11-7). The interruption of the game by Bernardi doesn’t produce effects for the guests, who suffered another advantage (14-8), this time by Nimir who is unstoppable at service. In the most difficult moment, Gas Sales Bluenergy starts to play and, thanks to Polo (block and ace), performs a comeback (16-13, 20-18), forcing Lorenzetti to call a time out. At the restarts, it’s again Nimir who continues to score (ace for 22-18) and directs the match towards the 2-0 which arrives on 25-21.
Thanks to the double advantage, Itas Trentino starts well the third set (4-1 and 7-4), scoring points on all the front of the attack. The Emilians try their best to get back in the game (10-8); the gialloblù sees the danger and restarts with passion thanks to a block of Giannelli on Russell and one of Michieletto on Finger (14-9). Alessandro strikes the newly entered Antonov with his service twice in a row (17-10); only a few exchanges are needed to definitively close the game (19-11 and 25-17).
