Karlovarsko-Trentino Itas 1-3, the match report

The match report. Lorenzetti changes only one player of the starting six who, just 24 hours before, had won against Novosibirsk in three sets: Giannelli as setter, Nimir Abdel-Aziz as opposite spiker, Lucarelli and Michieletto (in the starting six in place of Kooy) as spikers, Lisinac and Podrascanin as middle blockers, Rossini libero. Karlovarsko responds with Keemink as setter, Indra as opposite spiker, Lux and Wiese as spikers, Wilson and Patocka as middle blockers, Pfeffer libero. Trentino Itas starts well, especially at service (ace of Lisinac), in attack (break of Michieletto), and at blocking (Giannelli); in just a few minutes the score is of 7-3 for the gialloblù. After the time out, the Czechs responds with Indra, who is wild at the net and from the nine meters (9-8); Lucarelli scores again (11-8), but then some inaccuracies of the gialloblù team give the tie to the opponents (12-12). An ace of Lux gives the first advantage of the match to Karlovarsko, forcing Lorenzetti to call the time out (15-16). At the restart, a block of Giannelli on Wiese reverses the situation (18-17), then the Captain offers another breakpoint (block on Wiese for 20-18); the final of the set is without difficulties, also because Nimir continues to score (23-20) until the 25-22 with which the teams go to the change of field.
In the second set, Karlovarsko (which maintain on the field Tichacek at service) tries immediately to score (1-4); but Trento separates itself very quickly, also because it suffers in reception (4-9). Nimir, with attack and blocking, tries to make a comeback (8-11), but in the central part the gialloblù can’t close the gap (10-15). It needs a block of Lucarelli on Indra and an ace of Michieletto to start the comeback (14-16), with Trentino Itas that slowly closes the gap (17-18 and 18-18). However, in the final, Lorenzetti’s team has again some difficulties with the service of Tichacek (20-23) and the attacks of Indra; the gialloblù cancel two set points but give up at the third, scored by Wiese: 23-25 and 1-1.
The fight point-by-point continues in the third period as well (3-1, 6-5), then Nimir and Lucarelli score with powerful attacks (10-6). Karlovarsko suffers the gialloblù exuberance and can’t score points in the central part (13-9 and 15-10); but Trento slows its intensity, and the opponent closes the gap (18-16); the time out of Lorenzetti clarifies the ideas for his team, who then doesn’t grant anything (23-19), and with Lisinac and Michieletto goes on 2-1 with the score of 25-20.
Trentino Itas wants to tie up loose ends in four sets and, after the change of field, restarts great, going on +4 (9-5) with Lucarelli. This time, Karlovarsko doesn’t make a comeback (14-10), at least until 18-14, then it reanimates, also because Trento grants something (18-16 and 22-21). Michieletto and Giannelli, both scoring in the break phase, end the set: 25-22 and 3-1 final.
