Champions League, on Thursday the first round match of semifinal against Perugia

The countdown is almost over. On Thursday 18th March, at 7 pm Trentino Volley will play (after almost 5 years) the semifinal CEV Champions League. A match that the team really loves, after having won it 3 consecutive times between 2009 and 2011.
Last time gialloblù played such an important match was on 16th April 2016; also in that occasion the opponent was an Italian team (la Cucine Lube Civitanova), but the match was only one, played in Cracovia and won in 3 sets. On Thursday, Itas will play for the first time ever such an important match on its home field, then the team will play second round in Umbria on 24th March. Trentino Volley particularly likes playing the semifinal CEV Champions League, given that it managed to qualify for the Final match 4 times: edition 2009 (3-0 against Macerata in Prague), 2010 (3-1 against Bled in Lodz), 2011 (3-0 against Jastrzebski in Bozen, the closest place to Trento where Itas has played a semifinal) and,as said in 2016. The only defeat was in 2012 (1-3 against Kazan in Lodz). The only dpuble round semifinal in European tournament played by Itas Trentino were during CEV Cup: edition 2015 (3-2 and 3-1 against Kedzierzyn-Kozle), 2017 (3-0 and 2-3 against Fenerbahce) and 2019 (3-0 and 3-1 against Olympiacos). 
It will be the first time Trento will play against Perugia in Champions League. But, these two team have often played together in other competitions, indeed Trentino Volley e Sir Safety Volley have already played 9 times in semifinal: 3 times during Play Off Scudetto (2015, 2017 and 2018), 3 times during Coppa Italia (2015, 2018 and 2021) and 3 times during Supercoppa Italiana (2017, 2018 and 2020). Gialloblù won 3 times and was defeated 6.
First round match between Trentino Itas and Sir Sicoma Perugia, scheduled for 18th March will be broadcast live on RAI Sport + 8chennel 58), Sky Sport Arena and Radio Dolomiti.
