SuperLega, another big match in perugia on Sunday

The fifth round of the regular season of the Superleague Credem Banca 2021/2022 is being played this weekend. On this occasion, Itas Trentino will confront the second away game of its championship, facing Sir Safety Conad on Sunday, November 6th at PalaBarton in Perugia. The match will kick off at 6 P.M.: live on Rai Sport + (channel 58 DTTV), Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO After the initial period of unbeaten season, the yellow-blue team was home defeated at the tie-break on Wednesday night against Padova, and it wants to return to confirm the first place in the rankings (currently shared with Piacenza and Monza) and offer a new stimulus to its championship. However, the match in Umbria is not one of the easiest, also considering that Angelo Lorenzetti will have to do without Alessandro Michieletto (sprain to the right ankle suffered in the midweek match) for at least another ten days.
“Perugia is traditionally one of the most challenging matches of our regular season; it is even more so in this case because we will be playing on the court of a very strong team that has not given up a single point in the championship so far - explained the coach of Trentino Volley -. We will also find an even stronger opponent after what happened in the Supercup semifinal, but that match shows that we have weapons at our disposal to put Sir Safety Conad in trouble and to be able to win. Obviously, everything will start from the propositional and determined attitude that must be maintained from the beginning of the match, but then it will also pass through the performance in the individuals, because in order to succeed in defeating Perugia we must necessarily play good volleyball".
In the starting six to be proposed at PalaBarton, the opposite spiker Giulio Pinali will therefore find a place once again, as already happened in the matches of this regular season against Verona and Padova, with Daniele Lavia who will return to occupy a place as spiker in diagonal with Matey Kaziyski. Itas Trentino had its last training session at the BLM Group Arena late this morning before leaving for Perugia. Sunday's match will be the 898th official in the history of the Via Trener Club, and the yellow-blue team will look for their 628th victory overall, 301st on the road and 374th in the regular season.
THE OPPONENTS The delay of one point compared to the leading trio in the 2021/22 SuperLeague Credem Banca rankings should not be misleading: Sir Safety Conad Perugia is in fact the only team in the league with still a full score, having already rested (during the third day) in the first round of the season. Apart from the 2021 Supercup, the path of the team trained by Nikola Grbic (one of the many former players in the Umbrian half court, the others being Giannelli, Solé and Colaci) has been almost perfect, with three victories, losing just two sets (one in Verona and one on Wednesday night in Taranto). In just a month, the renewed sextet of the block devils has already found effective agreements and can also count on excellent replacements in any role, as shown by the frequent use of Plotnytskyi, who also replaced Anderson in Puglia, and the continuous alternation between Ricci and Mengozzi, while waiting for Russo's definitive recovery. Attack and serve are the main weapons of Perugia, which in these two fundamentals can count on interpreters of absolute level such as the opposite spiker Rychlicki and the attackers Leon and Anderson.
PREVIOUS EVENTS Forty official matches have been played between Trentino Volley and Sir Safety Perugia, with a 21-19 win for the yellow-blue team, also thanks to the three victories this year (on January 3rd in Perugia, on March 19th at home and on October 23rd in Civitanova) out of a total of five played. Perugia has won six of the last ten previous matches, including the last game played at PalaBarton (3-2 on March 25th in the second round of the Champions League semi-final with scores of 25-22, 25-17, 23-25, 17-25, 15-6), but lost the only previous game of the season: 3-0 in Civitanova in the Super Cup semi-final with scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-23 (15 points from Kaziyski). Overall Trentino Volley has won five times in sixteen previous meetings in the opponents’ home.
THE REFEREES The match will be refereed by Umberto Zanussi (from Treviso, in the top category since 2006) and Armando Simbari (from Milan, in major league since 2007 and international since 2016), in the fourth and third matches of their season respectively. Zanussi's last previous match with Trentino Volleyball was on March 28th (victory in the tie-break in Civitanova), while Simbari's was four days later (on April 1st, home defeat in three sets against Lube).
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET The match will be a global media event, enjoying simultaneous live coverage on TV, radio and internet. The match will be broadcasted by RAI Sport +, a channel on both the digital terrestrial platform, in this case only at number 58, and on the Sky satellite platform at number 227, with commentary by Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta.
