SuperLega, on Thursday night in Milan the rematch of the 12° round

The rematch of the 12th round of regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2021/22 will be played on the penultimate day of the year 2021, on Thursday 30 December and Itas Trentino will play in Allianz Milano’s court, at Allianz Cloud (yet PalaLido). The starting whistle is at 20.30: live on Rai Sport +, on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on OTT Volleyball World Tv.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The yellow-blue team, after having started the second round with five sets and a point gained on Sunday in Verona, goes back to the first round for a night to complete its journey in the first thirteen days od championship. The last appointment of 2021 is marked by the uncertain conditions of two players, Lisinac (unavailable three days ago in Veneto due to a backache and still uncertain for Thursday) and Sbertoli dealing with a recent dislocation of the left little finger.
“This match completes the first round and offers us the opportunity to end the first round in third place - said the coach of Trentino Volley Angelo Lorenzetti - . On no account this goal defines the future of the season, but we want to reach it just for personal satisfaction. First of all, we are aware that some problems of the last ten days have slowed down our journey, but it is in the logic of such pressurized and competitive seasons. Secondly, we will do it with the belief that the primary goal is to go back in the court with the enthusiasm that is essential to bring out the best of us during this period, especially in these situations”.
Itas Trentino will arrive in Milan in the evening after the afternoon training at BLM Group Arena. There it will play its 44th official match, the 26th away game of the year and the team will look for the 636th victory of its history in the match number 912.
THE LAST MATCH OF THE YELLOW-BLUE FIRST ROUND, JUST A POINT TO REACH THE THIRD PLACE The match at Powervolley’s court will allow Trentino Itas to put an end to its first round. Up to now, the first round was marked by eight victories in eleven matches played and twenty-five points for its ranking, that situates the yellow-blue team in the fourth place after Modena, that has the same result but with a better set ratio. In order to gain the third place at the end of the first round, Lorenzetti’s team has to gain at least a point in this event. The placing difference essential, considering that that the final ranking of first round defines the combinations of the quarter finals of Del Monte® Coppa Italia 2022 that should be played on Sunday 16 January in the court of the best ranked (single-elimination tournament). In case of the third place, Itas Trentino will face the sixth placed, in case of fourth place it will face the fifth placed; Monza, Piacenza and Milano itself are the possible opponents.
THE OPPONENTS Thursday night match marks Allianz Milano’s comeback in court after twenty days of stop due to the pandemic. In fact, on mid-month Allianz Milano’s line up had to deal with four players tested positive for Covid, as a consequence the last two matches of the first round and the first of second round had to be put off.
The conditions of Roberto Piazza’s men and its choices for the staring six are still unknown, also because Powervolley had to do without its French opposite spiker Patry due to muscular fatigue even before the forced stop. Nevertheless, Allianz Milano is sure to play the quarter finals of Coppa Italia 2022, because they are in the seventh place in the ranking with 15 points at the moment, but they even have the opportunity to reach the fifth place overcoming Monza and Piacenza in one fell swoop, in case of the victory of the two matches left to end the first round. Considering the physical problems of the French opposite spiker, the most constant player up to now is the American hitter spiker Jaeschke (with an average of almost 15 points a match), but also the middle-blocker Chinenyeze (the fourth middle-blocker of the tournament for weighted average), who has proved to be an important point of reference for the game of the young setter Porro.
PREVIOUS MATCHES Thursday match will be the 17th official game of Trentino Volley and Powervolley Milano’s history. The report is 14-2 for yellow-blue club, with the only two victories of Powervolley Milano that date back to a match played in Trento on 15 October 2017 (2-3 thanks to Abdel-Aziz mvp with 28 points) and the last played in Milan (0-3, 3 February 2021). The home match of Revivre is going to be played at PalaLido in Milan for the fourth time (where Trento won 3-1 on 17 November 2019 and 3-0 on 23 January 2020); the other home matches were previously played at PalaYamamay in Busto Arsizio (3 March 2019 3-1, 5 February 2017 3-0 and 30 December 2017, 2-3), at Forum in Assago (8 February 2015, 3-0) and at PalaBorsani in Castellanza (5 December 2015, 3-1). During the pre-championship, the two line-ups confronted each other in a training in Milan, that was won 4-1 by the host last 9 October.
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Ilaria Vagni (from Perugia, of role since 2003 and international since 2014) and Alessandro Cerra (from Bologna, Serie A since 2014), respectively at their fifth and seventh game of their season in SuperLega 2021/22. For Vagni, the last previous match with Trentino Volley dates back to 4 April (defeat 1-3 in Civitanova for the race 3 of Play Off semifinal), while for Cerra dates back to 10 November (win in three sets in Ravenna).
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET This will be a global media event, with a simultaneous live stream on tv, radio and internet. It is possible to watch it on small screen on RAI Sport + on digital cable (number 57 in HD and 58 in SD), with Maurizio Colantoni’s commentary.
