SuperLega, on Wednesday night the rematch of the 16th round in Civitanova Marche

The rematch of the 16th round (the third of second round) of regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2021/22 will be played on Wednesday 2 February, in which Itas Trentino will face Cucine Lube at Eurosuole Forum of Civitanova Marche. The starting whistle is at 20.30; live on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on OTT Volleyball World Tv.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO Just a little more than three months from the wonderful weekend in which they conquered the Supercoppa Italiana 2021, the yellow-blue team gets back in the court in the Marche region (always lost since 2020). In that case, Kaziyski and his teammates didn’t face the hosts, but they managed to drive that negative club tradition away regarding the Eurosuole Forum, in which they previously lost eighteen of the nineteen previous matches. Angelo Lorenzetti’s team makes it to the direct match for the second place (the teams are paired up at 37 points in the ranking, but Cucine Lube has played one game less) at the top of a moment of particular good physical condition. Thanks to this, they have won the last seven official matches and they have left only three sets to the opponents.
“Wednesday match in Civitanova starts a period of eight days in which we will face the first three teams ranked, taking into account also the home matches that are waiting for us, on Sunday with Modena and next Thursday with Perugia for Champions League – explained the coach from Trentino - . We have to live this first phase of February as an opportunity of growth, especially if we will think more of the game performances rather than the logic of ranking. Moreover, the match at Cucine Lube’s home gives us two additional cues to try and take a step forward: to play another away-game and to do it on the court of an opponent that has shown great resilience, obstinacy and team spirit during these four months of season”.
In Civitanova Marche, where the whole team will arrive on late evening after this morning training at BLM Group Arena, Itas Trentino will play the 28th season match (report of 20 victories and 7 defeats), the 17th away -game and it will look for the 308th away victory of its history in 497 matches played away from Trento.
THE OPPONENTS Cucine Lube Civitanova is waiting for Trentino Itas’ visit, fresh from three consecutive victories in three sets and from five victories in the last six matches played. The last one was just one week before in Champions League against Maribor, considering that the match planned for last weekend in Modena was postponed due to the high number of players tested positive from Covid-19 in the Emilian team. The team of Marche region arrives at the important event, that could re-open or end the race for the second place, with six days of work behind them, that was really useful to improve the mechanism of a sextet that can count on the help of Zaytsev and Lucarelli again. The opposite-spiker and the hitter-spiker solved their physical problems that had kept them away from the court until some weeks ago and now they guarantee an important way out for De Cecco’s play, who can count on the physicality of the Cubans Simon and Yant, while waiting for the rematch of Juantorena. In front of its public, the white-red team has won seven of the twelve matches played up to now, but considering the defeats, only one of five was a match of SuperLega: 1-3 on 19 November with Perugia.
PREVIOUS MATCHES The match against Trentino Volley and Lube is a tradition in the Italian championship, that has marked eight Finals of four different competitions: two of Play Off (2012 and 2017), three of Coppa Italia (2012, 2013 and 2017) and two of Supercoppa (2009 and 2013). Moreover, Civitanova, together with Modena, is the only one opponent that Trentino Volley has always confronted in all the twenty-two seasons of activity and it is the only one with which has highest number official previous matches: altogether 83 (Modena has 77). The report is positive for Lube for 47-36, especially thanks to the winning streak of Lube, that has won thirteen of the last sixteen previous matches. In the last twelve months, the competitions have been quite balanced, considering that Trento has won two of the six matches played: 28 March 3-2 in Civitanova (first yellow-blue victory at Eurosole Forum) and 31 October 3-1 in Trento in the first round of this regular season. However, Cucine Lube has won the last direct match: 10 December 2021 in Betim 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 21-19 – Club World Championship semifinal).
REFEREES The match will be directed by Mauro Goitre (from Turin, of role since 2014) and Ilaria Vagni (from Perugia, of role since 2003 and international since 2014), respectively at the ninth and seventh game of their season in SuperLega 2021/22. For Goitre, the last previous match with Trentino Volley dates back to 16 January (victory in three sets against Monza in the quarter final of Coppa Italia), while for Vagni it dates back to 30 December 2021 (victory in three sets in Milan).
