2022 CEV Champions League, Trentino Itas wins 3-1 in Cannes and qualifies for the quarter

Mission accomplished in Cote d’Azur for Trentino Itas. In Cannes, on the court of the defending Champions of France, the yellow-blue formation has indeed took advantage of the opportunity offered by the results achieved in the other rounds this evening, achieving the goal that was set at the beginning of 2022 CEV Champions League: the qualification to the quarter final of the maximal continental tournament.
Thank to the success with 3-1 in transalpine land and the following three points achieved for the qualification, Tretino Volley has indeed finished Pool E with twelve points, being in the group of the best three seconds in all of the five groups, which was an essential condition to be among the eight best teams in Europe that from March will be on the final board with direct elimination. On Friday February 18th, thanks to the draw that CEV will do in Luxembourg, Kaziyski and his teammates will know the opponents to play against in two matches (home and away games).
Tonight’s match was made of good moments alternated with more suffering ones in volleyball by Lorenzetti’s team, but without never losing sight of the final goal, represented by a full victory. After a slow start, right away under 1-7, the yellow-blue team found again the strength of the best days, winning in a come back the first set and controlling the second one from the beginning to the end. The break felt in the third set, lost at the advantages, forced Kaziyski and his teammates to play also a fourth set, where they went back controlling at the service (7 aces), at net (17 winning blocks) and in attack as the team did in the first half of the match. Best scorer for Tretino Itas was once again Daniele Lavia, who was able to score 24 point with 49% in attack and 5 blocks, but also Kaziyski (18 with 58%, two blocks and two aces) and Michieletto (14 with 50%, two blocks and two aces) offered a solid contribution in the match where Lisinac was back on the court after two break turns: the Serbian middle-blocker drew his attention with 73% in the first set, 5 winning blocks and one ace, for a total of 14 points that reassured everyone about his health status.
