SuperLega, on Tuesday night in Padova the rematch of the 17°round

The rematch of the seventeenth round (the fourth of the second round) of regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2021/22 will be played on Tuesday 22nd February and Itas Trentino will be at Kioene Arena di Padova to face the hosts of Kioene Padova. The starting whistle will be at 20.30; live on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on OTT Volleyball World Tv.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO After the period of rest of the second-round last weekend, the yellow-blue line-up gets back in the court in Veneto to complete the appointments of the previous days that still had to recover in regular season, facing one of the most comfortable away-game of the entire championship.
“The first-round match that we lost at the tie break after the advantage 1-0, shows how carefully we have to approach this match, because the points at stake are important not only for us but also for the opponents – explained Angelo Lorenzetti during the presentation of the match - . The best qualities of Padova are in the serve and we know how much this fundamental can hurt us, especially when we play in an away-game. We are fresh from a weekend without matches, in which we were able to work on the technic and the physical condition, although incomplete. It will be necessary to have a careful and focused approach to the match and to lift up the game level, especially during the ball-change phase”.
The yellow-blue coach will still have to do without the middle-blocker Marko Podrascanin and, only for this time, the opposite-spiker Daniele Albergati, who is self-isolated because he tested positive for Covid-19 last weekend. The team will complete its training for the match early this afternoon and then it will set off to Padova, ready to play the nineteenth seasonal away-game appointment (in which it has won in eleven circumstances up to now). In Veneto, Trentino Volley will play it 924th official match of its history, looking for its 645th victory of all time.
THE OPPONENTS Kioene Padova is waiting for Itas Trentino’s visit with the absolute need to gain points for its ranking. The victories achieved in the last weekend from Taranto and Vibo Valentia have brought the white-black line-up to the penultimate position (the second that the relegation saves together with the one of Ravenna, mathematical from last round), position shared with Verona. In order to confirm the category for the seventh season in a row, the Paduans will have to gain as many results as possible in the coming weeks, starting from Tuesday night match – the fourth from the last of its regular season, that will include also the direct match with Vibo Valentia to play at home, the internal match with Milano and the away-game in Modena.
In order to do so, Cuttini’s team will rely on its best weapons, that are represented by the serve (it’s the one that obtained the highest number of aces, 155 in 22 matches) and by the high-ball couple Weber-Bottolo, respectively the fifth and tenth bombers of the tournament. Compared to the first round, the Venetian coach can count on an extra player, the young Japanese hitter-spiker Takahashi, who has found little room in the court up to now.
PREVIOUS MATCHES On Tuesday night will be played the 39th official match of the history between the two Clubs; the report is clearly positive for the yellow-blue team, that have won in 31 circumstances, but the Venetians have found victory in three of the last seven games played, including the first-round match on 4th November 2021 (2-3 with sets of 25-17, 28-30, 24-26, 25-16, 17-19 and Bottolo mvp with 24 points). In eighteen official previous matches played in Veneto, the locals have won only four times, taking into consideration also the 3-2 on 16th February 2003, 1st February 2004 and 13th February 2005. The most recent yellow-blue victory in Padova dates back to last previous match, played on 27th September 2020 (0-3 with sets of 25-27, 15-25, 24-26). Right in Padova, Trentino Volley gained the first external victory of its history: it was on 5th January 2001 and the Itas Diatec Trentino of the time trained by Bruno Bagnoli stood up with 3-1 at the then known as Pala San Lazzaro, with sets of 19-25, 31-29, 25-21, 26-24. On the Paduan bleacher was sitting Angelo Lorenzetti.
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Stefano Caretti (first referee from Rome, in highest category since 2016) and by Giuseppe Curto (second referee from Gorizia, in Serie A since 2013), respectively at their ninth and eleventh match of their season in SuperLega 2021/22. The only previous match with Trentino Volley dates back to 19th January 2020 for Caretti (victory at BLM Group Arena 3-1 over Vibo Valentia), while for Curto dates back to 2nd January 2022 (home victory at tie break over Perugia).
