In Bologna starts 2022 Del Monte® Coppa Italia Final Four

On Saturday March 5th starts the Final Four of Del Monte® Coppa Italia 2022 at Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna). Itas Trentino will be the main character in the second semifinal, where the team will play against Allianz Milano: the kick-off will be at 5.45 p.m. Live on RAI Sport +, Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the platform OTT Volleyball World Tv.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The yellow-blue formation will go to Emilia strong as the team is in the third place in the ranking, a position that was further strengthened by the victory against Vibo on Wednesday, and after the elimination of Civitanova, the team will go there as the second top of the league of the final scoreboard to play once again against Milan, which was always on the Trento’s path in the last two edition of the competition. In order to try and achieve the access to the final Coppa Italia, which was last achieved at the Unipol Arena five years ago (2017 edition), the team needs to confirm its good condition also in and outside of a match.
“It will be a particular important Final Four of Coppa Italia.”- explained the trainer Angelo Lorenzetti during the presentation. “The rivalry will be back after it was interrupted two years ago, when exactly in Bologna the last event of such importance was played with present viewers. Being back to be moved and find again four type of supporters in the same facility, as only volleyball can do, will be amazing.”“We are ready to fully live it again and give our contribution to a good end in the event. The team has a good shape and is properly prepared, depending on the calendar, very packed in this period of the year, gave us. We will face a Milan in a very good shape and that in the second round had a performance similar to ours. Therefore, I await a very hard-fought and uncertain semifinal that could also end with in five sets.”
Once in Bologna at midday, the yellow-blue team will train late in the afternoon in the Unipol Arena for around an hour and a half. This is a useful opportunity to take the measures of an extremely big facility and also to further test the condition of the team. Itas Trentino will go to this match with everyone there, if we also take into account that Albergati is among the available players and Podrascanin played his first whole match on Wednesday evening against Vibo, after solving the problem at the abs that injured him in the previous weeks. Saturday’s match will be the 927th official match of the history of Trentino Volley (evaluation: 647 victories and 279 defeats), it will be the 501th match to play away. Trento won thirteen time in this season in away matches.
THE HISTORY OF TRENTINO VOLLEY IN COPPA ITALIA It is the eve of the 15th Final Four of Coppa Italia in the history of the Club of Trener street. In total, the participations to the competition are twenty, which was won in 2010 against Modena in the semifinal (3-0) and the Cuneo (3-1, on January 31st in Montecatini) and bizarrely twice in the year of 2012: the 2011/12 edition at PalaLottomatica in Rome against Belluno (3-0) and Macerta (3-2), between February 18th an 19th and the 2012/13 edition at the Forum of Asiago against Vibo Valentia (3-0) and Macerata (3-1) between December 29th and 30th. In other occasions, the adventure of the yellow-blue team finished in three cases at the hand of Cuneo with 3-0 (on February 2nd 2002 again at the Forum of Asiago, on January 28th 2006 at PalaFiera of Forlì in the semifinal, on January 23rd 2011 at PalaOlimpia in Verona in the final), in one circumstance at the hand of Piacenza (1-3 on March 8th 2014 at PalaDozza in Bologna) in the 2014 and 2015 editions (on January 11th 2015 and on February 7th 2016) at the hand of Modena in the final, the 2017 edition with Civitano once again in the final, in the 2018 edition in the semifinal against Perugia in Bari (on January 27th 2018), in the 2019 and 2020 editions once again at the hand of Lube in the semifinal (between February 2nd and 3rd and on February 22nd 2021) and the last one was lost because of Perugia (0-3, on January 30th 2021). In Coppa Italia, Trentino Volley has at the moment played a total of forty-two matches, winning twenty-five of them, including the last one (on January 16th, 3-0 against Monza). The player with the highest number of presence in this event with the yellow-blue t-shirt remains Colaci, who between 2011 and 2017 played in 21 matches. Kaziyski is on the other hand the one of today’s team with the highest number of presence (18). The same Matey is, together with Podrascanin, the only player that has won the trophy in the yellow-blue roster (3 editions).
THE OPPONENTS Allianz Milano is about to play the most important match in its young corporate history in Emilia. Never before the Lombard Society of President Fusaro managed to play the semifinal in an Italian competition of SuperLega. The finish line was achieved eliminating the outgoing champions of the event of Civitanova in the match of the quarter final played in the Marche. A result that made unforgettable the fifth absolute participation of the Milanese Club in Coppa Italia, certifying further the good moment of Roberto Piazza’s team, which will arrive at Unipol Arena with the fifth place in the ranking. The track record of the second round has six victories out of nine matches and twenty total points achieved, result that made the team go up by two places in the ranking compared to the first round. Among the secrets of the good Milanese moment, there is the basics of the block, where only Trento has achieve more points in regular season (216 against 210), but with a match more played. Among the elements to underline, the great season of the wing spiker Jaeschke (seventh bomber of the championship with 320 completions, seventh receiver and sixth attacker with weighted average) and the middle-blockers Piano and Chinenyeze, respectively first and fourth blockers.
THE PROGRAM OF THE FINAL FOUR On Saturday 5th March at Unipol Arena the semifinals will be played. Before Trento-Milan, at 3-15 p.m. the match between Perugia and Piacenza will be played. The following day, on Sunday 6th March, the final between the winning teams is at 3 p.m. The semifinals will be aired live on RAI Sport +, the final on RAI 2.
THE PREVIOUS MATCHES The semifinal will give us a competition that already happened in two occasion in the last two editions of the competition and in four circumstances in the last fourteen months, if we also take into account the matches played in regular season. Trentino Volley and Powervolley Milano played against one another in the quarter final of the competition both in 2020 (success of the yellow-blue team for 3-0 in Milan on January 23rd 2020, with partials 23-25, 19-25, 19-25) and in 2021 (another 3-0, this time on January 27th at BLM Group Arena with partial 25-22, 25-21, 25-21). In total the official matches that were already played were 17, with a positive evaluation for Trentino Volley for 15-2. In the present season there is just one event, the one of the first round: on December 30th 2021, victory for 3-0 of Itas Trentino at Allianz Cloud with partials of 22-25, 18-25, 26-28 and Kaziyski mvp. The one of Unipol Arena will be the first match played on neutral court between the two Societies.
THE REFEREES Fipav has named the six referees that will supervise the semifinals and the finals, without disclosing the composition of the couples in each match. The list of the chosen can count on Stefano Cesare (Rome), Andrea Puecher (Rubano, Padova), Armando Simbari (Milan), Ilaria Vagni (Perugia) Umberto Zanussi (Treviso) and Marco Zavater (Rome). All of them have already supervised a match with Trentino Volley.
TV, RADIO AND THE INTERNET The match will be a global media event, enjoying the live match on TV, radio and the internet. On the small screen, it will be aired by RAI Sport +, channel present on the platform digitale terreste (channel 57 in HD, 58 in sd), with chronicles by Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta.
