Perugia wins Coppa Italia 2022: Itas Trentino loses 1-3 in Final

Del Monte® Coppa Italia 2022 ends up in Sir Safety Conad Perugia’s showcase, top of the league number one in Bologna Final Four. Itas Trentino puts off the dream of victory for the next decade, the highest national trophy for the fourth time in its history, but walks out tall from the Unipol Arena and even more sure that the new journey started in summer 2021 can give great satisfactions and a bright future.
As confirmed by the match eve’s previsions and the current ranking of regular season SuperLega, the Umbrian imposed themselves 3-1 at the end of the match that gave emotions and balance especially in the half-time. The yellow-blue team managed to react from the third set on after an opponent’s monologue, even considering the surprise since the impetuous beginning, between the attack, block and serve of the Umbrian team. Michieletto’s growth (best scorer of the team at the end, with 19 points 2 blocks, 3 aces and 57% in attack), Kaziyski’s stable presence at net (16 with 2 blocks and 2 aces) and the general improvement in block and serve fundamentals allowed Lorenzetti’s team to reopen the match, to obtain 1-2 in the calculation of the sets and to send signs of vitality even during the fourth set, which was spent in the pursuit of victory but lost only 23-25. Leon’s break point (12 over 23 winning balls made) and Rychlicki’s continuity at net were enough to move the needle of the scale in favour of the Umbrian, in addition to the decisive points of the ex Giannelli, that ended the match.
