Easter Monday at the BLM Group Arena for game #2 of Play Off Semifinal Serie

Game 2 of the Credem Banca 2022 Scudetto Play Off Semifinal will be played on Easter Monday evening (Monday, April 18) at the BLM Group Arena in Trento. Itas Trentino awaits the visit of Cucine Lube Civitanova, 1-0 ahead in the best-of-five series. The starting bell is scheduled for 6 p.m.: live broadcast on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO After the splendid victory in game 1, the Gialloblù will try to keep the field factor, in order to get a double advantage and look to the second part of the series with a better chance of passing the round. "The 3-0 win in Civitanova on Thursday was obviously gratifying; we liked it a lot, but it hides the great balance shown by the two teams throughout the match - explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti during the presentation of the match - . We have to start from this consideration in order to be aware that just a few balls are inevitably enough to decide the outcome of every single match. The satisfaction of having won game 1 must not make us lose sight of the real difficulty of facing a team like Cucine Lube. In order to be able to counter them adequately, we will have to show great intensity, determination and competitive spirit, with the possibility of being supported on this occasion by our public”.
The Trentino lineup will work regularly over the Easter weekend at the BLM Group Arena to prepare for the match, holding a double session (weights and ball) on Saturday and a technical-tactical workout late in the afternoon on Sunday. Game 2 will be the 48th game of the season for Trentino Volley, the 21st at home, where the team has collected sixteen victories so far. For the club from via Trener, it will be the 129th match in its history in the Play Off Scudetto (76 wins and 52 losses), the 49th in the semifinals, where it boasts 27 wins and 21 ko.
EASTER MONDAY ON THE COURT AS IN 2011, 2012 AND 2019 In its twenty-year history, Trentino Volleyball has already played an official match on Easter Monday on three occasions, both in front of its own public: April 25, 2011 (3-0 over Modena in game 1 of the Semifinals), April 9, 2012 (3-0 over Roma in game 2 of the quarterfinals) and April 22, 2019 (3-2 over Civitanova in game 3 of the Semifinals).
THE OPPONENTS Cucine Lube Civitanova will travel to Trento for the second time this season with the aim of securing its first victory in the last twelve months at the BLM Group Arena, where it has not won since 25 April 2021 (game 4 of the semi-finals of the previous edition of the Play Off). Thursday night's home loss reversed the field factor and will force Blengini's team to necessarily go in search of an external success in order to try and reach its fifth consecutive Scudetto final. The Marche team must evaluate the condition of Osmany Juantorena, who remained on the bench for all of game 1 due to a shoulder discomfort, to understand if they will recover their captain or if they will have to propose the line-up that calls for the use of Yant in his place. The red-and-whites come to Trento on the strength of an important external roster; in four of the last five away games played between the regular season and the Play Off Scudetto, they have won.
BACKGROUND With 85 official matches already in the archives, four in this season alone, Cucine Lube Civitanova is the opponent that Trentino Volleyball has challenged the most times in its history; the score is 48-37 in favour of the Cucine team. However, the red-and-whites lost the only previous game played at the BLM Group Arena during the current season: 3-1 to Trento on 31 October with scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-11, 26-24 and Kaziyski as mvp. In the course of the Play Off Scudetto the trend is in any case favorable to the guests, able to win in Trento five times in a total of seven matches, including the last two (double 3-0, the first and the 7th of April 2021 in the same phase of the scoreboard). In total, Trentino Volleyball has managed to make the home field factor count in twenty-six of the thirty-seven home matches played against Lube.
THE SERIES Itas Trentino is 1-0 ahead in the best-of-five Play Off semifinal series, having won 0-3 on April 14 at the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova with scores of 26-28, 20-25, 23-25. Game 2 will be played on Easter Monday, and could be the only game to be played at the BLM Group Arena only if the Gialloblù team wins two more games between this match and the next one (game 3) on Thursday 21 April in Le Marche (8.30 pm). Should Cucine Lube win one of the next two challenges, they will also need to play game 4, which will be held again at the BLM Group Arena on Sunday, April 24 at 6 pm. Whoever passes the round will find the winner of the Perugia-Modena semifinal in the final (which also features a best-of-five match, starting on May 1), ahead of the team from Emilia (game 2 at PalaPanini on Sunday).
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Andrea Puecher, first whistle from Rubano (Padua), and Massimo Florian, second whistle from Altivole (Treviso). For Puecher, in Serie A since 2003 and international since 2013, fifteenth match of the season in SuperLega; five of these are against Trentino Volley (the last one on April 10, 3-0 home win over Piacenza). For Florian, on the roster since 2007, sixteenth seasonal direction in SuperLega; four of these referred to Trentino Volley, the last one on April 3 in Piacenza (defeated at the tie break).
