SuperLega, on Saturday in Verona the first away match of the season

The second round of the regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23 will be played this coming weekend. After last Sunday's convincing home debut against Siena, Itas Trentino will be called upon to face the first away match of its championship, taking on WithU Verona in one of the two early games scheduled for Saturday, October 8th. At the PalaOlimpia the kick-off is scheduled for 8.30 p.m.: live commentary on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The three points obtained against Siena last Sunday immediately offered points and good indications to the yellow-blue line-up, which in Veneto will immediately look for an important confirmation to continue running in the championship. "The first away engagement of the season is always particularly difficult itself, because you need to find immediately concentration and points of reference in a different facility from the one in which we have almost always worked during the preparation, but to tell the truth this match in Verona would have been very tough even in a different moment of our season - explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti presenting the appointment - . We will face a team to which the summer market has offered even more physicality and enthusiasm, greatly improving their quality in all the fundamentals. The success obtained on Sunday evening in Piacenza immediately confirmed this, making us realise how much attention and determination we will have to put into play to obtain a positive result. It is obviously very early, but we will definitely need a test of maturity to bring home points".
Trentino Volleyball will reach Verona in the early evening today, after the eve training session at the BLM Group Arena. For the second regular season engagement, the coaching staff will have all fourteen players of the new roster available.
Saturday's match will correspond to the 945th official match in the history of the Trener street club, and will see the yellow-blue in search of their 314th away win - a result that has been missing in the regular season since 27 February (a four-set victory in Piacenza).
SINCE 2010, THE YELLOW-BLUE ARE ALWAYS ON SCORE IN THE FIRST TRANSFER OF THE REGULAR SEASON Itas Trentino will come to Verona on the strength of a favourable tradition that has lasted for twelve consecutive seasons with respect to the first away match of the regular season, which has always ended with a victory from 2010 to date. The last time Trentino Volleyball had to reckon with a defeat in the first away match was in a match played in Vibo Valentia: 4 October 2009, a 0-3 defeat at PalaValentia on the second day of the championship.
ADIGE DERBY ON SECOND MATCH DAY, AS IN THE 2008/09 AND 2020/21 SEASONS Verona-Trento, the traditional "Adige derby," has been placed on the second day of the regular season, as it happened twice in the past. In any case, this is not a particularly favorable analogy for Trentino Volleyball, which came out defeated in both circumstances. Year 2008/09, when the yellow blue team went down right in Verona (October 5, 2010) losing in a tie break, and in the year 2020/21, when the Venetians prevailed in three sets at the BLM Group Arena (October 4, 2020).
THE OPPONENTS After the excellent pre-championship (also marked by the victory in the Montichiari four-way competition) and the accomplishment in Piacenza on the debut, WithU Verona is about to play right against Itas Trentino the first official match of its season at home, to which it arrives full of enthusiasm and with already two points in the rank. The transfer market operated in the summer by the Verona club has allowed coach Radostin Stoytchev (a historical former player, as well as his vice Simoni and players Raphael, Cortesia and Magalini) to have a shortlist with higher quality and alternatives on high ball, thanks to the arrivals of Keita, Perrin and Sapozhkov and the confirmation of Mozic and Jensen. These are all players with great physicality, who guarantee an essential contribution in the fundamentals of attack and serving. Furthermore, the libero Gaggini and the middle blocker Grozdanov came from Monza, Grozdanov completes the 3-position area along with Cortesia, Mosca (from Milan) and Zanotti.
BACKGROUND Trento and Verona already have forty-two official confrontations behind them: six in the Play Off Scudetto (2010 and 2018), thirty-five in the regular championship and one in the 2019 Italian Cup. With Saturday's match, the Verona lineup will join Top Volley Cisterna at 43, becoming the sixth club faced the most times in the Yellow blue team history. Statistics are clearly in favor of Trentino Volleyball, scoring in as many as 30 instances, but the Verona-team has won three of the last six matches played. Verona has also always forced Trento to the tie break in the last four Adige derbies home game, winning on March 17, 2018 in Game 2 of the Play Off quarterfinals, on February 18, 2019 and December 26, 2021 in the regular championship, and losing on December 5, 2020 (the most recent precedent on Scaligera land). The trip to Veneto, however, has brought good luck to Trentino in as many as twelve circumstances out of the nineteen matches played. The two teams also met in the pre-season, although with reduced classes: on September 14 right at PalaOlimpia it ended 2-2 (25-23, 23-25, 22-25, 25-23).
THE REFEREES The match will be managed by the duo: Armando Simbari (from Milan, in Serie A since 2007 and international since 2016) and Massimo Florian (from Altivole - Treviso, in the top league since 2007). The last precedent with Trentino Volleyball for Simbari was two weeks ago (final of the four-way competition in Biella, lost 1-3 to Civitanova), while for Florian it corresponds to the 3-0 win over Civitanova on April 18, 2022 (game 2 of the Play Off Scudetto semifinals).
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV The match will be narrated live on Radio Dolomiti, Trentino Volleyball's partner network. Frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found at www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to follow the live radio commentary in streaming. Live video streaming on the OTT platform "Volleyball World TV" is also planned; there is a fee for the service. More information on the enjoyment of the same can be found at www.welcome.volleyballworld.tv/faq-it.
On TV, the match recap will be aired on RTTR, the Company's partner TV in via Trener, on Monday, October 10 at 9:40 p.m.
Eventually, on the Internet point-to-point updates will be managed by the website of the Volleyball League Serie A (www.legavolley.it), by www.trentinovolley.it itself and will also be active on the Yellow-blue social networks (www.trentinovolley.it/facebook and www.trentinovolley.it/twitter).
