Itas Trentino-Top Volley Cisterna 3-2, the match report

Here’s the match report. Itas Trentino is back with Sbertoli, after two matches at the box, who is back in the starting six. Sbertoli is lined up diagonally to Kaziyski who is the opposite spiker; Lavia and Michieletto lined up in position 4, Podrascanin and Lisinac as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero. Cisterna replies with Baranowicz as setter, Dirlic opposite spiker, Sedlacek and Kaliberda hitters, Zingel and Rossi as middle blocker, Catania as libero.
The start is fast-paced; the two teams fight for a long time on point (3-3 and 5-5), showing an excellent attack phase on reception. Kaziyski is lined up diagonally in position 2, he breaks the balance (7-5), which is immediately restored by Dirlic’s breakpoint and Lisinac’s error in the first half (9-10). The hosts get wrong as well with Michieletto (invasion) and Sbertoli (ball hits the net), allowing the players from Lazio the first lead of their match (10-13); a +3 that they succeeded to confirm also at the end (12-15 and 14-17), despite the fact that Trento tried to get closer with Podrascanin (12-13). On 14-18 (Dirlic's block on Lavia) Lorenzetti had no time-outs left, but even after the coach's directions the yellow-blue team was not able to get closer (17-21 and 18-23). Cisterna grants nothing, works well at the net with all the setters and closes the first set winning by 20-25 with an ace from the newly entered Staforini.
Itas Trentino tries to fight back after the change of ends (3-2 and 7-6), with Lavia and Kaziyski immediately at the ball; Cisterna replies hit after hit until 8-8, then gives a couple of break point both scored by the capitan (11-8, time out is called by Soli). So, the hosts intensify their actions with Lisinac at serve (17-11), also because the Serb defends as well as he serves (an ace and an easy peasy slash for Sbertoli). The end of the set and the 1-1 point in the set score arrives quickly (20-13 and 25-18), with Kaziyski and Lavia again unstoppable in attack and Michieletto author of a winning ball leading to the teams changing sides.
In the opening of the third set, the Top Volley dominates the game; with an affiliate serve and an attentive block immediately dig the difference (1-3 and 4-8) help up in attack by Dirlic. Itas Trentino does not like the situation and reacts shortly afterwards (8-9), putting more intensity through the block and the defense, but Cisterna does not give up and with Kaliberda and Sedlacek took off again (12-16, time out is called by Lorenzetti). The yellow-blue coach throws Džavoronok in the game at the place of Michieletto, and it is precisely Donovan who leads his team to a new comeback attempt (17-18, attack and ace).
Podrascanin blocks the German setter and ties the score at 18, but the tie is uncertain and the guests strike a blow again with Kaliberda himself (18-21). Lavia leaves space to Cavuto, and Oreste becomes the absolute protagonist: with three consecutives points (two attacks and a block) by signing the new tie at 22 right by himself. The match becomes very intense, and brings the set beyond the normal score; the hosts cancel a set point, and get four in a row, Cisterna is once again ahead (29-30), but then it is Itas that wins four points and closes the set with 35-33 (foot invasion by Baranowicz).
On the back of the victory of the previous partial sprint, the yellow-blue team (with Lorenzetti confirming Džavoronok at the place of Michieletto) spring into action very well (6-2 and 8-4), but in the end they are beaten by Cisterna’s comeback (10-9), who ties at 12. Lorenzetti inserts Michieletto back into the game (but in this case at Lavia’s position) and Alessandro immediately makes two side out phases which keep Trento under control (15-15). Top Volley keeps on stinging at serve and scores a few break-points with Sedlacek at serve (19-22), and these points bring the competition to the tie break with 21-25.
The fifth set is played on each and every point, but it could not be otherwise (1-3, 5-6, 8-7); after the change of ends it is Lavia who close the first double internal leading-points (9-7), but Cisterna goes already ahead on 9-9 with Baranowicz’s ace. Kaziyski (12-10, 13-11) and Podrascanin (15-13) score the decisive points.
