Vero Volley Monza-Itas Trentino 0-3, the match report

Match report. Itas Trentino came to Brianza in a standard lineup: Sbertoli as setter, Kaziyski as opposite spiker, Michieletto and Lavia as setters, Lisinac and Podrascanin as middle blocker, Laurenzano as libero; Monza replies with Zimmerman as setter lined up diagonally to Grozer, Davyskiba and Maar in position 4, Galassi and Beretta as middle blocker, Federici as libero. The yellow-blue team’s start is very impressive (4-2 and 6-3), especially since the hosts seem a little nervous, especially in attack. Trento quickly reaches with Kaziyski and Michieletto the +6 (9-3), but later within a few minutes it completely loses the lead (10-6, 15-11 and 15-14), also because Lavia struggles to get into the game and in attack. Lorenzetti battens down the hatches; he brings in Džavoronok to help Lavia and calls time out. At the restart kick, the Brianzoli’s players also do their best (15-16), but at the end Itas Trentino came back to rule: an ace by Michieletto for 21-19 and then the shot down by the Czech himself for 25-22, later that Monza had climbed up to 22-22. After the change of sides, the match is tight again, but the yellow-blue team (with Džavoronok still on the court) seem to have something more (5-3 and 10-7) also because Vero Volley often makes mistakes in attack. In the middle front Kaziyski projects his team to +5 (15-10), before the hosts come back dangerously (17-15) with Dayskiba. The captain does it again to widen the gap one more time (19-15), but Monza does not give up and with Maar's ace. After Eccheli’s timeout, Monza comes back to minus two (20-18). It is then up to Matey and Michieletto again to seal the 2-0 lead already on 25-20. On the wave of enthusiasm, Itas Trentino got off to a hot start in the third set as well (5-2, 7-4 and 9-5) with Michieletto and Džavoronok again on defense. In the thick of it, however, the yellow-blue team stopped at the sideout phase, allowing the wing to the opponents, who with Beretta and Davyskiba already tied at 9. Monza takes more risks with the serve and again scores on breakpoint with Maar (ace) and Grozer, forcing Lorenzetti to call timeout on 13-16. The interruption of the game requested by Trento bench is well-timed, because later the yellow-blue team restarted with Donovan's ace and attacks by Michieletto and Kaziyski going back ahead 19-18. Vero Volley seemed to stand up for itself for good (23-19) and instead found the strength with Grozer to incredibly take the match beyond the normal score (24-24), where it did not take advantage of four set balls and they lost the third match ball: block by Michieletto and Lisinac on Davyskiba.
