SuperLega, the big match of the eighth round, on Sunday afternoon in Perugia

The eighth round of the regular season SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23 is being played this weekend. After this Thursday evening match in the Czech Republic, Itas Trentino is getting ready to play another away game, this time in Perugia against Sir Safety Susa in the top clash scheduled for Sunday, November 20th at PalaBarton at 4.30 p.m. Live coverage on Rai Sport + (channel 58 DGTV), Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO After five consecutive victories between the Supercup, the Championship and the Champions League, the yellow-blue team faces the most challenging away game of the regular season with the desire to cause problems again for the leading team, as happened on last October, 31st in the semi-final in Cagliari, where the Umbrians won only in the tie break.
“It is certainly exciting to be able to face again, three weeks later, the team that won the first trophy of the season and has so far dominated the scene without ever suffering a setback,” explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti presenting the game - . ”It will be an important opportunity to check where we stand in relation to our opponents and to try to get points on a court, where so far no one has won them. We arrive at the match with a long midweek away match behind us, but also with the enthusiasm that five consecutive victories have generated in the group and in the environment. We will try to transfer all this to the court and offer our best version, not so much for ranking issues, but rather because we see this moment as an opportunity to grow and to show what we are worth in a single game.”
Trentino Volley will reach Perugia in the early evening today, after a late morning training session at the BLM Group Arena in which Oreste Cavuto did not participate (separate work due to abdominal problems that will keep him in the box for a long time). The match against Vero Volley will correspond to the 956th official match in the history of the Via Trener club, the twelfth of the season, and will see the yellow-blue team searching their 318th away victory, the 393rd in the regular season in 558 matches played.
THE OPPONENTS Still with full points in the Championship and the Champions League (nine three-point victories) and on target in the first Final Four of the season, Sir Safety Susa Perugia awaits Itas Trentino at PalaBarton in what is the first home big match of its regular season. After overcoming Civitanova at home a few weeks earlier, the Umbrians will therefore be looking for another landslide victory (possibly the twelfth in a row, out of twelve matches played so far) to further legitimize their supremacy and, in fact, almost definitely secure it long before the end of the first half of the season. Indeed, Anastasi's team already boasts a five-point margin over the first chasing yellow-blue team, but has also played one match less than Trento and Lube. During the first part of the championship, the team at the disposal of the coach from Mantova has shown all its thoroughness and strength, taking into account that a well thought out turnover has often been applied in order to better manage all the resources. In Wednesday night's European match in Ankara, Wilfredo Leon, who, after the scare he had during the Supercup Final in Cagliari, had been preventively rested in previous matches, was back on the court. The Cuban setter with Polish passport will therefore reinforce the team’s offense, which is the best in the tournament along with Verona (54% team share). Perugia also excels in serving (57 aces in seven matches) and in some individual rankings thanks to Semeniuk: the new acquisition is the most prolific player from the nine-meter line (15 points) and the best receiver by weighted average.
BACKGROUND There are forty-eight official confrontations between Trentino Volley and Sir Safety Perugia, with a positive tally 23-25 for the Umbrians, also thanks to six wins in the last eight matches. However, in the three most recent confrontations, Trento has always forced its opponents to the tiebreak, winning only one of them played at PalaBarton (on March 30th in the semi-final first leg of last year's Champions League). Overall, the yellow-blue team has won six times in eighteen previous games in the opponents' facility. To the Block Devils' credit the only official match already played by the two teams this season: on October 31st, by 3-2 in the Supercoppa semifinal in Cagliari (23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 15-7).
THE REFEREES The match will be managed by Alessandro Cerra (from Bologna, in Serie A since 2014) and by Stefano Cesare (from Rome, in the highest category since 1999, and international one since 2010), at their fourth and fifth seasonal match of the SuperLega, respectively. The most recent match with Trentino Volley for Cerra is reported at the game with Perugia in Cagliari on last October 31st (semifinal of the Supercoppa), while for Cesare the most recent match with Itas Trentino dates back on April 27th (game 5 of the 2022 Scudetto playoff semifinals).
RADIO, TV AND INTERNET The match will be a global media event, enjoying simultaneous live coverage on television, radio and the Internet. On the small screen it will be broadcast by RAI Sport +, a channel present on the digital terrestrial platform at number 58 with coverage entrusted to Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta. Live coverage is planned on Radio Dolomiti, media partner of Trentino Volley. Frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found at www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to follow the radio report in live streaming. The live video streaming on the OTT platform "Volleyball World Tv” is also confirmed, the service is for a fee. On TV the match recap will be aired on Monday, November 14th at 9:40 p.m., on RTTR - partner TV of Trentino Volley.
