SuperLega, the yellow-blue team back on court at the BLM Group Arena, on Saturday

The regular season’s tenth turn of SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23 will be played in the upcoming weekend. After the matches against Milano and Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Itas Trentino will play another home match against Pallavolo Padova in the second preview scheduled for Saturday December 3d. The match will be at 6 p.m. at the BLM Group Arena; live on Rai Sport+ (channel 58 DGTV), Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO With this appointment the yellow-blue line-up will close the first round, and it will see its fans again in the second half of December, before leaving for Brazil, where it will take part into the Volleyball Club World Championship 2022 next week.
“It was crucial for us to win Tuesday’s Champions League match against Kedzierzyn-Kozle, but now we want to redeem ourselves even in the championship. Regardless of the result, last Saturday’s match against Milano has not been played properly, and we do not intend to do that again – explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti at the match’s eve - We will try and prove this strong desire against such opponent as Padua, who has both skills and qualities to outdo many teams. We do not want to be one of those”.
The yellow-blue team’s coach must still do without the hitter Oreste Cavuto, but he can count on the other thirteen members of the shortlist, who will complete the match preparation with this afternoon’s training session and the finishing one of Saturday morning at the BLM Group Arena. Saturday’s appointment will be the 959th of the yellow-blue team’s history, the 441th at home (tally of 347 victories and 93 defeats), the 560th in regular season.
LORENZETTI GUIDES TRENTINO VOLLEY TO THE 300TH MATCH This match will be the 300th for Angelo Lorenzetti as Trentino Volley’s coach. He has been the coach of 299 matches by far (56 in the 2016/17 season, 48 in 2017/18, 52 in 2018/19, 30 in 2019/20, 46 in 2020/21, 52 in 2022/21 and 15 in the current one), with 205 victories (68,5%); it is the second in terms of attendance in the Society, before Radostin Stoytchev (389) and after Bruno Bagnoli (88) and Radames Lattari (64). Lorenzetti was also the protagonist of the first home match of Trentino Volley’s history, as the coach of opponent’s team, Padua; it was October 22nd 2000 and at that time, the former Itas Gruppo Diatec Trentino won the first overall success of its history at the PalaTrento, and made a comeback against the Veneto’s line-up (0-2 and 3-2), at that time coached by Angelo Lorenzetti.
THE OPPONENTS The second to last place in the rankings and the six points scored in the first eight matches may not really match reality for Pallavolo Padova. It is true that the team who on Saturday will be at the BLM Group Arena lost three matches in a row, but it has also proved to have some relevant comebacks, which can easily hinder to teams such Modena and Civitanova (defeated at the tie break in the first two turns of the championship) and teams competing right for a victory such Taranto (also defeated at the tie break in Apulia). Cuttini has a young shortlist at his disposal, with five members out of fourteen who grew up there, and some important members. Among all the players who make up the setter-opposite diagonal: Saitta is in fact the element of experience, while the Serbian opposite Petkovic is the main point of reference in attack as we can see from: the 155 points scored so far, the eighth place in the ranking of the tournament's best scorers and the seventh position among the acemen. On high ball, however, the Trentino block will also have to carefully monitor the Japanese Takahashi and former Verona player the Bulgarian Asparuhov, who in this first phase has often interchanged in position 4 with Belgian Desmet, D'Heer's national teammate.
BACKGROUND The 40th official match in the history between the two clubs will be played on Saturday; the tally is clearly in favour of the yellow-blue team, which has won  thirty-two games, but the Venetians players have won three of the last seven matches played, including also the penultimate match 2-3 victory (25-17, 28-30, 24-26, 25-16, 17-19), staged at the BLM Group Arena; on November 3rd, 2021. In the most recent one, played in the current calendar year (February 22nd in Veneto), Trentino Volley's success instead came in four sets (27-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-21) with Sbertoli mvp. In the 20 official matches played in Trento, Padua has won only two other times: November 7th, 2004 (1-3) and November 20th, 2019 (2-3).
THE REFEREES The match will be managed by Armando Simbari (from Milano, in Serie A since 2007 and international category since 2016) and by Cesare Armandola (from Voghera - Pavia, in Serie A since 2017), at their fourth and second seasonal match of the SuperLega, respectively The most recent match with Trentino Volley for Simbari is reported on October 31st (loss at tiebreak with Perugia for the Supercoppa semifinals in Cagliari), while for Armandola the most recent game dates back on January 22nd: Trento-Ravenna 3-0.
RADIO, TV AND INTERNET The match will be a global media event, enjoying simultaneous live coverage on television, radio and the Internet. On the small screen it will be broadcast by RAI Sport +, a channel present on the digital terrestrial platform at number 58 with coverage entrusted to Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta.
